He said,“ If they have come out for peace, take them alive; if they have come out for war, take them alive.”

Ben- Hadad said,“ They might be coming to make peace. If they are, take them alive. Or they might be coming to make war. If they are, take them alive.”

He said,“ If they have come out for peace, take them alive. Or if they have come out for war, take them alive.”

“ Take them alive,” Ben hadad commanded,“ whether they have come for peace or for war.”

So he said,“ If they have marched out in peace, take them alive, and if they have marched out for battle, take them alive.”

Then he said,“ If they have come out for peace, take them alive; or if they have come out for war, take them alive as well.”

So he said,“ If they have come out for peace, take them alive; and if they have come out for war, take them alive.”

And he said, Whether they are come out for peace, take them alive; or whether they are come out for war, take them alive.

那时，亚玛谢派使者到耶户的孙子，约哈斯的儿子以色列王约阿施那里，说：“来，让我们面对面较量吧！”以色列王约阿施派人去见犹大王亚玛谢，说：“黎巴嫩的蒺藜派人去见黎巴嫩的香柏树，说：‘将你的女儿嫁给我的儿子。’但有一只野兽经过黎巴嫩，把蒺藜践踏了。你果然打败了以东，就心高气傲。你以此为荣，就待在自己家里算了吧，为何要惹祸，使自己和犹大一同败亡呢？”亚玛谢却不肯听从。于是以色列王约阿施上来，在犹大的伯‧示麦与犹大王亚玛谢面对面较量。犹大败在以色列面前，他们逃跑，各人逃回自己的帐棚去了。

非利士人又对大卫说：“来吧！我要把你的肉给空中的飞鸟和田野的走兽。”

不要夸口说骄傲的话，也不要口出狂妄的言语，因耶和华是有知识的神，人的行为被他衡量。勇士的弓折断，跌倒的人以力量束腰。

败坏之先，人心骄傲；要得尊荣，先有谦卑。

二人就让非利士的驻军看见。非利士人说：“看哪，希伯来人从躲藏的洞穴里出来了！”站岗的士兵对约拿单和拿兵器的人说：“上到这里来，我们有一件事要告诉你们。”约拿单就对拿兵器的人说：“跟我上去，因为耶和华把他们交在以色列人手里了。”
