看哪，我要在何烈的磐石那里，站在你面前。你要击打磐石，水就会从磐石流出来，给百姓喝。”摩西就在以色列的长老眼前这样做了。

因为人的怒气并不能实现神的义。

到了基顿的禾场，因为牛失前蹄，乌撒就伸手扶住约柜。耶和华的怒气向乌撒发作，因他伸手扶住约柜而击杀他，他就死在那里，在神面前。

扫罗对撒母耳说：“我有罪了！我违背了耶和华的指示和你的命令；因为我惧怕百姓，听从了他们的话。

“你拿着杖去，和你的哥哥亚伦召集会众，在他们眼前吩咐磐石涌出水来，水就会从磐石流出，给会众和他们的牲畜喝。”

你为何没有听从耶和华的话呢？你为何急着扑向掠物，行耶和华眼中看为恶的事呢？”

我曾在旷野，就是那干旱之地认识你。

凡我所吩咐你们的，都教导他们遵守。看哪，我天天与你们同在，直到世代的终结。”

撒母耳到了扫罗那里，扫罗对他说：“愿耶和华赐福给你，耶和华的命令我已遵守了。”撒母耳说：“我耳中听见有羊叫、牛鸣的声音，又是什么呢？”

他就对从犹大来的神人宣告说：“耶和华如此说：‘你既违背耶和华的指示，不遵守耶和华—你神的命令，反倒回来，在耶和华禁止你吃饭喝水的地方吃了饭喝了水，因此你的尸体必不得葬在你祖先的坟墓里。’”神人吃喝完了，老先知为他带回来的先知备驴。神人就去了，在路上有只狮子遇见他，把他咬死。他的尸体倒在路上，驴站在尸体旁边，狮子也站在尸体旁边。

他使水从磐石涌出，叫水如江河下流。

亚伦的儿子拿答和亚比户各拿着自己的香炉，把火放在炉里，加上香，在耶和华面前献上凡火，是耶和华没有吩咐他们的。

那时大卫说：“除了利未人之外，无人可抬神的约柜，因为耶和华拣选他们抬神的约柜，永远事奉他。”

因为你们上一次没有抬这约柜，并且我们没有按规矩求问耶和华—我们的神，所以他冲出来攻击我们。”
