Again they answered:“ You may not pass through.” Then Edom came out against them with a large and powerful army.

Again the people of Edom answered,“ We won’t let you pass through here.” Then the people of Edom marched out against them. They came with a large and powerful army.

But he said,“ You shall not pass through.” And Edom came out against them with a large army and with a strong force.

But the king of Edom replied,“ Stay out! You may not pass through our land.” With that he mobilized his army and marched out against them with an imposing force.

Yet Edom insisted,“ You may not travel through.” And they came out to confront them with a large force of heavily-armed people.

But he said,“ You shall not pass through.” And Edom came out against him with a heavy force and a strong hand.

Then he said,“ You shall not pass through.” So Edom came out against them with many men and with a strong hand.

And he said, Thou shalt not pass through. And Edom came out against him with much people, and with a strong hand.

Yet Edom insisted,“ You must not travel through.” And they came out to confront them with a large force of heavily-armed people.

那时，以色列派使者去以东王那里，说：‘求你让我穿越你的地。’以东王却不听。以色列又照样派使者去摩押王那里，他也不肯。于是以色列人就住在加低斯。

耶和华如此说：“以东三番四次犯罪，怒气不停发作，永远怀着愤怒，拿刀追赶兄弟，丝毫不存怜悯，我必不撤销对它的惩罚。

但是，以东对他说：“你不可从我这里穿越！否则，我要带刀出去攻击你。”

西宏却不信任以色列，不让他们穿越他的疆界。他召集了他的众百姓在雅杂安营，与以色列争战。

以扫因他父亲给雅各的祝福，就怨恨雅各，心里说：“为我父亲居丧的时候近了，到那时候，我要杀我的弟弟雅各。”

因你向兄弟雅各施暴，你必蒙羞，永被剪除。当陌生人掳掠雅各的财物，当外邦人进入他的城门，为耶路撒冷抽签分取财物的日子，你竟站在一旁，像与他们同伙。你兄弟遭难的日子，你不该瞪着眼看；犹大人被灭的日子，你不该幸灾乐祸；他们遭难的日子，你不该说狂傲的话。我子民遭灾的日子，你不该进他们的城门；他们遭灾的日子，你不该瞪着眼看他们受苦；他们遭灾的日子，你不该伸手抢他们的财物。他们遭难的日子，你不该站在岔路口剪除他们逃脱的人，你不该交出他们的幸存者。耶和华的日子临近万国；你所做的，人也必向你照样做，你的报应必归到自己头上。

因为你永怀仇恨，在以色列人遭遇灾难、罪孽到了尽头时，把他们交给刀剑，所以主耶和华说：我指着我的永生起誓，我必使你遭遇血的报应，血必追赶你；你既不恨恶血，血必追赶你。我要使西珥山荒凉荒废，把来往经过的人从它那里剪除。我要使西珥山布满被杀的人。被刀杀的要倒在小山和山谷，并一切的溪水中。我必使你永远荒凉，使你的城镇无人居住，你们就知道我是耶和华。“因为你曾说‘这二国、这二邦必归我，我们必得为业’，其实耶和华仍在那里；所以主耶和华说：我指着我的永生起誓，我必照你因仇恨向他们发的怒气和嫉妒对待你；我审判你的时候，要在他们中间显明自己。

我愿和平，当我发言，他们却要战争。

使者回到雅各那里，说：“我们到了你哥哥以扫那里。他正迎着你来，并且有四百人和他一起。”
