于是埃及人派监工管辖他们，用劳役苦待他们。他们为法老建造储货城，就是比东和兰塞。可是越苦待他们，他们就越发增多，更加繁衍，埃及人就因以色列人愁烦。埃及人严厉地强迫以色列人做工，使他们因苦工而生活痛苦；无论是和泥，是做砖，是做田间各样的工，一切的工埃及人都严厉地对待他们。

“你们为希伯来妇人接生，临盆的时候要注意，若是男的，就把他杀了，若是女的，就让她活。”

法老的监工击打他们所派的以色列工头，说：“为什么昨天和今天你们没有按照以前做砖的数目，完成你们的工作呢？”

他用诡计待我们的宗族，苦待我们的祖宗，强迫他们丢弃婴孩，使婴孩不能存活。
