“ And remember, you have with you Shimei son of Gera, the Benjamite from Bahurim, who called down bitter curses on me the day I went to Mahanaim. When he came down to meet me at the Jordan, I swore to him by the Lord:‘ I will not put you to death by the sword.’

“ Don’t forget that Shimei, the son of Gera, is still around. He’s from Bahurim in the territory of Benjamin. Shimei cursed me bitterly. He did it on the day I went to Mahanaim. Later, he came down to welcome me at the Jordan River. At that time I made a promise in the name of the Lord. I promised Shimei,‘ I won’t put you to death with my sword.’

And there is also with you Shimei the son of Gera, the Benjaminite from Bahurim, who cursed me with a grievous curse on the day when I went to Mahanaim. But when he came down to meet me at the Jordan, I swore to him by the Lord, saying,‘ I will not put you to death with the sword.’

“ And remember Shimei son of Gera, the man from Bahurim in Benjamin. He cursed me with a terrible curse as I was fleeing to Mahanaim. When he came down to meet me at the Jordan River, I swore by the Lord that I would not kill him.

“ Keep an eye on Shimei son of Gera, the Benjaminite from Bahurim who is with you. He uttered malicious curses against me the day I went to Mahanaim. But he came down to meet me at the Jordan River, and I swore to him by the LORD,‘ I will never kill you with the sword.’

And behold, you have with you Shimei the son of Gera the Benjaminite, of Bahurim; now it was he who cursed me with a painful curse on the day I went to Mahanaim. But when he came down to meet me at the Jordan, I swore to him by the Lord, saying,‘ I will not put you to death with the sword.’

“ And see, you have with you Shimei the son of Gera, a Benjamite from Bahurim, who cursed me with a malicious curse in the day when I went to Mahanaim. But he came down to meet me at the Jordan, and I swore to him by the Lord, saying,‘ I will not put you to death with the sword.’

And, behold, there is with thee Shimei the son of Gera, the Benjamite, of Bahurim, who cursed me with a grievous curse in the day when I went to Mahanaim; but he came down to meet me at the Jordan, and I sware to him by Jehovah, saying, I will not put thee to death with the sword.

“ Keep an eye on Shimei son of Gera, the Benjaminite from Bahurim who is with you. He uttered malicious curses against me the day I went to Mahanaim. But he came down to meet me at the Jordan River, and I swore to him by the Lord:‘ I will never kill you with the sword.’

And, behold,[ thou hast] with thee Shimei the son of Gera, a Benjamite of Bahurim, which cursed me with a grievous curse in the day when I went to Mahanaim: but he came down to meet me at Jordan, and I sware to him by the LORD, saying, I will not put thee to death with the sword.

“ Note well, you still have to contend with Shimei son of Gera, the Benjaminite from Bahurim, who tried to call down upon me a horrible judgment when I went to Mahanaim. He came down and met me at the Jordan, and I solemnly promised him by the LORD,‘ I will not strike you down with the sword.’

“ Behold, there is with you Shimei the son of Gera, the Benjamite, of Bahurim, who cursed me with a grievous curse in the day when I went to Mahanaim; but he came down to meet me at the Jordan, and I swore to him by Yahweh, saying,‘ I will not put you to death with the sword.’

大衛王到了巴戶琳，看哪，有一個人從那裏出來，是掃羅家族中基拉的兒子，名叫示每。他一面走一面咒罵，又向大衛王和王的眾臣僕扔石頭；眾百姓和勇士都在王的左右。示每這樣咒罵說：「你這好流人血的，你這無賴，滾吧！滾吧！你流了掃羅全家的血，接續他作王，耶和華把這罪歸在你身上。耶和華將這國交在你兒子押沙龍的手中。看哪，你咎由自取，因為你是好流人血的人。」

來自巴戶琳的便雅憫人基拉的兒子示每急忙與猶大人一同下去迎接大衛王。跟從示每的有一千個便雅憫人，還有掃羅家的僕人洗巴和他十五個兒子、二十個隨從僕人，他們都趕緊過約旦河到王的面前。渡船就渡王的家眷過河，照王看為好的去做。王過約旦河的時候，基拉的兒子示每俯伏在王面前，對王說：「我主我王離開耶路撒冷的那日，僕人行了悖逆的事，現在求我主不要因此加罪於僕人，不要記得，也不要放在心上。僕人明知自己有罪，看哪，約瑟全家之中，今日我首先下來迎接我主我王。」洗魯雅的兒子亞比篩回答說：「示每既然咒罵耶和華的受膏者，不應當為這緣故處死他嗎？」大衛說：「洗魯雅的兒子，我與你們有何相干，你們今日要跟我作對嗎？今日在以色列中豈可把任何人處死呢？我豈不知今日我是以色列的王嗎？」於是王對示每說：「你必不死。」王就向他起誓。

憑誠實、公平、公義指着永生的耶和華起誓；列國就必因他蒙福，也必因他誇耀。」

王派人召示每來，對他說：「你要在耶路撒冷為自己建造房屋，住在那裏，不可從那裏出來到任何地方去。你當確實知道，你何日出來過汲淪溪，就必定死！你的血必歸到自己頭上。」示每對王說：「這話很好！我主我王怎樣說，僕人必照樣做。」於是示每住在耶路撒冷許多日子。過了三年，示每的兩個奴僕逃到瑪迦的兒子迦特王亞吉那裏去。有人告訴示每說：「看哪，你的奴僕在迦特。」示每起來，備上驢，往迦特到亞吉那裏去找他的奴僕，從迦特帶他的奴僕回來。有人告訴所羅門：「示每出耶路撒冷到迦特去，又回來了。」王就派人召示每來，對他說：「我豈不是叫你指着耶和華起誓，並且警告你說『你當確實知道，你何日出來到任何地方去，就必定死』嗎？你也對我說：『這話很好，我必聽從。』你為何不遵守你對耶和華的誓言和我吩咐你的命令呢？」王又對示每說：「你向我父親大衛所做的一切惡事，你自己心裏都知道，耶和華必使你的罪惡歸到你自己的頭上。但所羅門王必蒙福，大衛的王位必在耶和華面前堅立，直到永遠。」於是王吩咐耶何耶大的兒子比拿雅，他就出去，擊殺示每，示每就死了。這樣，國度在所羅門的手中鞏固了。
