葆樂、耶穌基督之僕、蒙召為宗徒、而負有宣傳天主福音之使命。

若有人宣傳異端、而不服膺吾主耶穌基督之至言妙理、以及奉事天主之正道、

吾人仰賴耶穌之神德、得認識以其大榮大德而恩召吾人之天主。於是凡關於立身處世、敬事天主所需之一切、乃應有而盡有矣。

凡無知愚昧之辯、徒滋口角、慎莫為之。

蓋天主普救之恩、已昌明於世、廣被有眾。吾人既受其教、自應痛絕邪妄之人欲。立身處世、寧靜淡泊、孳孳為善、

既知天地萬物終歸消滅、則爾等應如何孳孳為善、

即欲規人之過、亦須平心靜氣、委宛言之、庶幾天主啟牖其衷、俾得領悟大道、

勿傾心於無稽之談、以及不可窮究之祖譜耳。此種研究、徒滋紛爭、非所以建植信德、而促進天主之聖謨也。夫所當勸告於人者、一言以蔽之、亦曰以光明之心地、純潔之天良無妄之信德、存養愛德而已矣。

兄弟則為主之所愛、吾儕尚可不為爾等恆謝洪恩乎？蓋天主自始予爾等以簡拔、俾爾等受聖神之感化、篤信真理、以蒙救恩。其召爾也、以吾儕之傳福音為因緣、而以爾等得沾吾主耶穌基督之光榮為目的。

嗚呼、聖道之玄妙、不亦浩浩其天、淵淵其淵乎哉！所謂玄妙者無他、即現於肉身、證於聖神、見於天神、傳於兆民、信於普世、而躋於光榮者也。

蓋天主之意、固欲使普天生靈咸蒙救恩、而體認真理耳。

使其團結一致於愛德之中、寖達和融瑩徹、沛然不疑之地、俾能切身體認天主之妙道而已矣。妙道無他、基督是已。

異邦人聞此、無不竊喜、頌揚主道；凡受命能得永生者、翕然起信、

基督耶穌之僕、葆樂蒂茂德、致書於斐立比宗奉基督耶穌之聖徒、與監牧副祭曰：

而爾猶狐疑不信者、以爾非吾羊故耳。吾羊樂聞吾音、予識之、而彼亦惟予是從；

蓋爾因信而蒙救、實憑聖寵；凡此皆非爾所固有、純出天主之惠賜。

奉天主恩旨、為耶穌基督之宗徒者、葆樂、偕兄弟蒂茂德、致書於格林多之天主教會、以及亞該亞全境之聖徒曰：
