蓋正當之憂戚、令人悔改、而蒙救恩；亦何悔之有？惟世俗之憂戚、乃致死耳。曷一思之、爾等既循聖道而憂戚、其效果為何如耶？爾等因憂戚而儆惕、而反省、而發憤、而小心翼翼、而發揚蹈厲、而至誠無妄、而疾惡如讎矣。爾之處此事、實無在而不自證其為貞固也。

乃離席解衣、以巾自束、注水盤匜中、濯門徒足、以所佩巾拭之。

哀悼痛哭乃真福、斯人終當承溫燠。

戰戰如履薄。兢兢如臨深。

吾願爾等皆真心懺悔、痛哭流涕、轉笑為泣、轉喜為憂；

福哉爾飢者、終必得飫足。福哉爾哀泣、先悲而後樂。

遂出而痛哭。
