As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,

The rain and the snow come down from the sky. They do not return to it without watering the earth. They make plants come up and grow. The plants produce seeds for farmers. They also produce food for people to eat.

大地怎樣使幼苗長出，園林怎樣使所種下的發芽，照樣，主耶和華也必使公義和讚美在萬國面前發出。

這兩個人有權柄閉塞天空，使雨水在他們做先知傳道的日子不降下來；又有權柄統管眾水，使水變成血，並且能隨時隨意用各樣災害擊打大地。

你眷顧大地，澆灌它，使它極其肥沃；神的河渠滿了水；你為人們預備五穀；你就是這樣預備了大地。你潤澤它的犁溝，平整它的犁脊；你用細雨使地鬆軟，祝福其中所生長的。你以恩惠為年歲的冠冕，你的路徑都滴下脂油，滴在曠野的牧場上；岡陵也以快樂束腰；草場以羊群為衣，谷中都蓋滿了五穀；這一切都歡呼歌唱！

他必降臨，如同雨水降在割過的草地上，又如細雨滋潤大地。在他的日子裡，義人必興盛，並有豐盛的平安，如月長存。

我必使它荒廢，既不修剪，也不翻耕，任荊棘和蒺藜長起來；我還要吩咐烏雲不降雨水在其上。

於是大衛再次求問耶和華。耶和華回答他，說：「起身，下到基伊拉去，因為我必把非利士人交在你手中。」
