For the grave cannot praise you, death cannot sing your praise; those who go down to the pit cannot hope for your faithfulness.

People in the grave can’t praise you. Dead people can’t sing praise to you. Those who go down to the grave can’t hope for you to be faithful to them.

For Sheol does not thank you; death does not praise you; those who go down to the pit do not hope for your faithfulness.

For the dead cannot praise you; they cannot raise their voices in praise. Those who go down to the grave can no longer hope in your faithfulness.

For Sheol cannot thank you; Death cannot praise you. Those who go down to the Pit cannot hope for your faithfulness.

凡你的手見得可作的事、你總要盡力去作；因為在你所要去的陰間、那裏沒有工作，沒有設計，沒有知識，也沒有智慧。

因為在死地無人記念着你；在陰間有誰稱謝你？

『我被害流血、下於冥坑、有甚麼益處？塵土還能稱讚你，還能宣說你的可信可靠麼？

於是他們、和一切屬於他們的、都活活地下到陰間；地掩蓋着他們，他們就從大眾中滅亡了。

惡人必在他所行的壞事上被推倒；義人必因他的純全而得避難。

這些人必往永世的刑罰裏去；那些義人呢、必往永世的生命裏去。」』

況且在一切之中、在我們和你們之間、還有個大空隙立着呢，叫那些想要從這邊過去到你們那邊的、無能為力；人也不能從那邊越過來到我們這邊。」財主說：「我祖啊，既然如此，就求你打發拉撒路到我父家去；因為我有五個弟兄；他可以鄭重警告他們，免得他們也來到這苦痛的地方啊。」亞伯拉罕說：「他們有摩西和神言人，讓他們聽他們吧。」他說：「我祖亞伯拉罕哪，不是的；若有人從死人中往他們那裏去，他們就會悔改的。」亞伯拉罕對他說：「他們若不聽摩西和神言人，就使有一個人從死人中復起了，他們還是不確信的。」』

而本國的子民竟被趕到外邊黑暗裏去；在那裏必有哀哭和切齒。』

死人不能頌讚永恆主；下於寂滅中的、不能讚美主。但我們呢、要祝頌永恆主，從今時直到永遠。哈利路亞！

你哪能行奇事給死人看呢？難道陰魂還能起來稱讚你麼？（細拉）你的堅愛是宣揚於墳墓裏麼？你的可信可靠能被敘說於滅亡處麼？
