如果继业是本于律法，就不再是本于应许了；但是神把继业赐给亚伯拉罕是藉着应许。

因为承受产业，若本乎律法，就不本乎应许；但神是凭着应许，把产业赐给亚伯拉罕。

若云嗣業係據律法、則不復淵源於恩諾矣。然而嗣業、固天主所許於亞伯漢之恩賜也。

For if the inheritance depends on the law, then it no longer depends on the promise; but God in his grace gave it to Abraham through a promise.

The great gift that God has for us does not depend on the law. If it did, it would no longer depend on the promise. But God gave it to Abraham as a free gift through a promise.

For if the inheritance comes by the law, it no longer comes by promise; but God gave it to Abraham by a promise.

For if the inheritance could be received by keeping the law, then it would not be the result of accepting God’s promise. But God graciously gave it to Abraham as a promise.

For if the inheritance is based on the law, it is no longer based on the promise; but God has graciously given it to Abraham through the promise.

这样，你们就不会变得懈怠，反而会效法那些藉着信仰和耐心去继承各样应许的人。神向亚伯拉罕应许的时候，因为没有比自己更大的可以指着起誓，就指着自己起誓，说：“我必定大大赐福给你，多多地增加你的子孙。”这样，亚伯拉罕恒久忍耐，就获得了神所应许的。

原来，赐给亚伯拉罕和他后裔继承世界的应许，不是藉着律法，而是藉着因信而得的义。这是因为，如果本于律法的才是继承人，信就落了空，应许也就无效了。事实上，律法带来了震怒，所以哪里没有律法，哪里也就没有过犯。为此，这应许是本于信，好使这应许照着恩典，能确保给所有的后裔——不仅是给属律法的，也是给属亚伯拉罕信心的。亚伯拉罕在神面前是我们每个人的父，

向我们的祖先施怜悯，不忘他神圣的约，就是向我们的先祖亚伯拉罕所起的誓，

既然是儿女，也就是继承人；如果我们真是为了与他一同得荣耀而与他一同受苦，我们就是神的继承人，而且与基督同做继承人。

我不弃绝神的恩典，因为义如果是藉着律法而来的，那么，基督就白白地死了。

因为你们藉着信，在基督耶稣里，都是神的儿女。

神的各样应许，原是对亚伯拉罕和他的一个后裔说的。神并没有说“后裔们”，像是指着许多人；而是说“你的一个后裔”，像是指着一个人，这一位就是基督。

因为他记念他圣洁的话语，记念他的仆人亚伯拉罕。

凡是本于律法上行为的人，都在诅咒之下，因为经上记着：“任何人不持守、不遵行律法书上所记载的一切，都是被诅咒的。”

而且，如果你们属于基督，你们就是亚伯拉罕的后裔，是照着应许的继承人。

律法不是本于信，但是“遵行这些事的人，将因此而活。”

他扶助他的仆人以色列，不忘怜悯，正如他对我们祖先，对亚伯拉罕和他的后裔所说的，直到永远。”
