倘若我們是靠守律法去承受產業，我們就不是倚靠上帝的應許。但上帝是憑應許把產業賜給了亞伯拉罕。

因为承受产业，若本乎律法，就不本乎应许；但神是凭着应许，把产业赐给亚伯拉罕。

因为承受产业若是出于律法，就不再是出于应许；但上帝是凭着应许把产业赐给亚伯拉罕。

若嗣業由律法、則非由應許、然天主乃以應許恩賜亞伯拉罕、

若云嗣業係據律法、則不復淵源於恩諾矣。然而嗣業、固天主所許於亞伯漢之恩賜也。

For if the inheritance depends on the law, then it no longer depends on the promise; but God in his grace gave it to Abraham through a promise.

The great gift that God has for us does not depend on the law. If it did, it would no longer depend on the promise. But God gave it to Abraham as a free gift through a promise.

For if the inheritance comes by the law, it no longer comes by promise; but God gave it to Abraham by a promise.

For if the inheritance could be received by keeping the law, then it would not be the result of accepting God’s promise. But God graciously gave it to Abraham as a promise.

For if the inheritance is based on the law, it is no longer based on the promise; but God has graciously given it to Abraham through the promise.

這樣，你們就不致懶散，可以效法那些憑信心和忍耐承受應許的人。當初，上帝向亞伯拉罕許下諾言的時候，因為沒有比自己更大的可以憑著起誓，就憑自己起誓說：「我必賜福給你，使你子孫眾多。」亞伯拉罕經過耐心的等待，得到了上帝的應許。

上帝應許將世界賜給亞伯拉罕和他的後裔，不是因為亞伯拉罕遵行了律法，而是因為他因信而成了義人。如果只有遵行律法的人才可以承受應許，信心就沒有價值，上帝的應許也就落了空。因為有律法，就有刑罰；哪裡沒有律法，哪裡就沒有違法的事。所以，上帝的應許是藉著人的信心賜下的，好叫這一切都是出於上帝的恩典，確保應許歸給所有亞伯拉罕的子孫，不單是守律法的人，也包括一切效法亞伯拉罕信心的人。

祂憐憫我們的祖先，持守自己的聖約，就是祂對我們的先祖亞伯拉罕所起的誓，

有何神明像你一樣赦免罪惡，饒恕你倖存子民的過犯？你不會永遠發怒，因為你樂於施恩。你必再憐憫我們，將我們的罪惡踐踏在腳下，把我們的一切過犯拋進深海。你必按古時給我們列祖的誓言，以信實待雅各，以慈愛待亞伯拉罕。

既然我們是兒女，就是繼承人，是上帝的後嗣，並且與基督同作後嗣。所以，如果現在我們和基督一同受苦，將來也必和祂一同得榮耀。

我不廢棄上帝的恩典，倘若靠遵行律法可以成為義人，基督的死便毫無意義了。

你們都藉著信基督耶穌而成為上帝的兒女，

上帝曾向亞伯拉罕和他的後裔賜下應許，不過這裡沒有說「後裔們」——指許多人，而是說「你的後裔」——指一個人，就是基督。

因為祂沒有忘記祂賜給僕人亞伯拉罕的神聖應許。

凡以遵行律法為本的人都在咒詛之下，因為聖經上說：「凡不遵行律法書上一切命令的人必受咒詛。」

你們若屬於基督，就是亞伯拉罕的後裔，都是照著上帝的應許承受產業的人。

律法卻不是以信心為本，而是說：「遵行的人必存活。」

祂扶助了自己的僕人以色列，祂要施憐憫給亞伯拉罕和他的子孫，直到永遠，正如祂對我們祖先的應許。」
