this Ezra came up from Babylon. He was a teacher well versed in the Law of Moses, which the Lord, the God of Israel, had given. The king had granted him everything he asked, for the hand of the Lord his God was on him.

So Ezra came up from Babylon. He was a teacher who knew the Law of Moses very well. The Lord, the God of Israel, had given Israel that law. The king had given Ezra everything he asked for. That’s because the Lord his God helped him.

昔我告王曰、凡宗事我上帝者、必蒙其祐、棄之者必干其怒、今若求王、以騎兵步卒賜我禦敵、則我必深以為恥。

俾我得沾王恩、言官群伯之惠、既蒙上帝祐、我志孔強、集以色列族中最著者、與我偕往。

選士祭司以士喇、習天上上帝之律例、我今降詔、命河西府庫諸司、凡其所欲、必供給毋怠。

耶和華以誡命法度賜於以色列族、選士祭司以士喇能洞明之、亞達泄西王乃頒以明詔、曰、諸王之王、亞達泄西告選士祭司以士喇、能明天上上帝之律例者、願爾享厥綏安、

正月十二日、我離亞哈瓦河濱、欲往耶路撒冷、上帝祐我、援我於敵、乃途間伏兵。

我更以上帝眷祐、國王降詔之事、告之、彼曰、願建邑垣。於是眾志已堅、為此善事。

蒙我上帝之佑、於以色列族、利未家、抹利裔中、得聰慧者一人、亦得示哩比、與其子弟十八人。

亦請王降詔於虞人亞薩、使彼賜我材木、可建城門、築垣墉、與我所居之室、蒙上帝祐、王允所祈。

我來俾爾悛改、從命者、迄無一人、獨何哉、我豈碌碌無能、不能手援爾與、我叱咤則河海變為槁壞、鱗族失水、死而變臭。

斯民也、皆爾僕從、爾以巨能大力拯之、今求耶和華垂聽爾僕、及夤畏爾者所祈、使我今日亨通、沾恩於王、當是時我為王酒正。

及其同宗示罵雅、亞撒利、米拉來、其拉來、馬埃、拿但業、猶大、哈拿尼、咸操上帝僕大闢之樂器、選士以士喇為其先導。

上帝感我、使重建耶路撒冷、我有是志、未嘗告人、夤夜率數人、獨乘一騎而往。

要之、兄弟乎、我賴主耶穌、求爾勸爾、既受我教、如何當行而悅於上帝、宜加勉焉、爾知我受主耶穌命以授爾、

上帝垂顧猶大長老、不止工作、及民奏大利烏也、乃以王諭示之。

我以法度禮儀教爾、使爾行之、在爾所得之地、遵我上帝耶和華命、

教之守我所命爾者、且我常偕爾、至世末焉、

蓋耶和華感亞述王心、使助建以色列族上帝之殿、故歡然守無酵節、凡歷七日。

曰今以後、不祇名雅各、更名以色列、蓋爾得志於上帝前、與人爭無不勝。

耶和華非手短不能救、非耳聾不能聽。

智者安在、士子安在、世之辯者又安在、豈非上帝以此世之智為不智乎、

如謹聽爾上帝耶和華命、遵行我今日所諭者、則爾上帝耶和華必舉爾升高、勝於天下億兆、使福降臨於爾、今詳言之。

曰、夫如是、則士子學天國者、如一家主、由庫中出新舊之物焉、○

凡事崇主、則蒙啟導。

敵聞謀已洩、為上帝所破、乃不攻我、我復興工築垣。

兄弟乎、昔我所傳、爾所受、而賴以立之福音、我申命爾、

翌日、族中最著者、及祭司、利未人、見選士以士喇、欲明律書所言、

吉祥之語、汩汩其來、為王作歌兮、我掉舌以吐詞、猶繕寫之揮毫兮。

當約薩撻孫、耶書亞子約雅金、方伯尼希米、選士祭司以士喇之時、上所載數人、猶存於世。

地有木臺、選士以士喇立其上、馬得底、示馬、亞奈雅、烏哩亞、希勒家、馬西雅、侍於右、比太亞、米沙利、馬其亞、哈順、哈八大拿、撒加利亞、米書闌、侍於左、

奚必自誇為智、得耶和華之律例、繕寫舛謬、盡成偽例。

民聞書所云、咸哭、方伯尼希米、選士祭司以士喇、與訓民之利未人、告眾曰、今乃聖日、奉事爾之上帝耶和華、毋哀哭。
