我恐來時、見爾不如我所望者、爾見我亦不如爾所望者、又恐爾中有分爭、媢嫉、忿怒、結黨、毀謗、隱刺、狂傲、混亂、

我怕我再来的时候，见你们不合我所想望的，你们见我也不合你们所想望的；又怕有纷争、嫉妒、恼怒、结党、毁谤、谗言、狂傲、混乱的事。

其实我担心，恐怕我来到的时候会发现你们不像我所希望的那样，而你们发现我也不像你们所希望的那样；又恐怕有纷争、嫉妒、暴怒、争竞、诽谤、谗言、自大和混乱；

其實我擔心，恐怕我來到的時候會發現你們不像我所希望的那樣，而你們發現我也不像你們所希望的那樣；又恐怕有紛爭、嫉妒、暴怒、爭競、誹謗、讒言、自大和混亂；

我恐至時、見爾不副我所望、而爾見我亦不副爾所望、或有爭鬥、媢嫉、忿怒、朋黨、毀謗、隱刺、妄誇、混亂、

余恐至時、爾不能副我所望、我不能副爾所望、恐有爭鬥、媢嫉、忿怒、朋黨、毀謗、隱刺、妄誇、混亂、

蓋吾深恐爾我相見之時、爾不能副我之望、我亦不能副爾之望；又恐爾中有鬥爭、嫉妒、忿怒、樹黨、誹謗、隱刺、傲慢、紛亂等事；

For I am afraid that when I come I may not find you as I want you to be, and you may not find me as you want me to be. I fear that there may be discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, slander, gossip, arrogance and disorder.

I’m afraid that when I come I won’t find you as I want you to be. I’m afraid that you won’t find me as you want me to be. I’m afraid there will be arguing, jealousy and fits of anger. I’m afraid each of you will focus only on getting ahead. Then you will tell lies about each other. You will talk about each other. I’m afraid you will be proud and cause trouble.

For I fear that perhaps when I come I may find you not as I wish, and that you may find me not as you wish— that perhaps there may be quarreling, jealousy, anger, hostility, slander, gossip, conceit, and disorder.

For I am afraid that when I come I won’t like what I find, and you won’t like my response. I am afraid that I will find quarreling, jealousy, anger, selfishness, slander, gossip, arrogance, and disorderly behavior.

For I fear that perhaps when I come I will not find you to be what I want, and you may not find me to be what you want. Perhaps there will be quarreling, jealousy, angry outbursts, selfish ambitions, slander, gossip, arrogance, and disorder.

For I am afraid that perhaps when I come I may find you to be not what I wish, and may be found by you to be not what you wish; that perhaps there will be strife, jealousy, angry tempers, selfishness, slanders, gossip, arrogance, disturbances;

For I fear lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I wish, and that I shall be found by you such as you do not wish; lest there be contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, backbitings, whisperings, conceits, tumults;

For I fear, lest by any means, when I come, I should find you not such as I would, and should myself be found of you such as ye would not; lest by any means there should be strife, jealousy, wraths, factions, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults;

For I fear that perhaps when I come I will not find you to be what I want, and I may not be found by you to be what you want; there may be quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambitions, slander, gossip, arrogance, and disorder.

For I fear, lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I would, and[ that] I shall be found unto you such as ye would not: lest[ there be] debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults:

充諸不義、姦淫、邪惡、貪婪、暴狠、又滿以嫉妒、兇殺、爭鬥、詭詐、刻薄、

蓋革羅伊氏家人已告我、謂兄弟中有紛爭、

故爾當去一切暴狠、詭譎、偽善、嫉妒、及諸毀謗、

爾若互相吞噬、恐彼此滅亡、爾其慎之、○

一切憾我之人、交頭接耳談論我、彼此商議以謀害我、

我弱而爾強、我則喜、我所願者、爾之全備也、今我與爾相離、故以此書達爾、使我與爾覿面時、不用嚴法、循主所賜我之權、此權主賜我、乃為建德、非為敗壞也、

兄弟乎、我為爾故、以此比己與亞波羅、使爾學於我二人、忖度人勿過於經所載、勿因此人自高、而輕視彼人、爾異乎人、誰使爾異、爾何所有而非受之乎、既受之何誇似未受乎、爾已飽飫、已豐富、不賴我儕、爾自掌權、爾自掌權或作爾目掌權乎我誠願爾掌權、使我儕可同掌權、

我不復至哥林多、惟因寛容爾曹、我籲天主為我心作證、我言此、非欲轄爾之信、乃助爾之樂、蓋爾以信而立焉、我已決意再至爾所、必復無憂、若我使爾有憂、則我所使憂者之外、誰使我樂乎、我以此書達爾、免我至之時、當使我樂者、轉使我憂、蓋我深知爾眾以我之樂為己之樂、我哀痛迫切、流淚不勝、以書達爾、非欲使爾憂、乃欲使爾知我愛爾甚也、

蓋天主非使人亂、乃使人和、聖徒諸會皆然、○

有人意我不來就爾、妄自誇大、然主若許我、我必速來、其時我所欲知者、非誇者之言、乃其能也、因天主國不在言、惟在能、爾何所欲、欲我就爾以杖乎、抑欲我就爾以慈愛及溫柔之意乎、

爾彼此爭訟、已為爾之大過、何不忍以受欺、何不忍以受虧乎、而爾則欺人虧人、且所欺所虧者即兄弟、

縱欲之行、顯而易知、即姦淫、苟合、污穢、邪侈、拜偶像、巫術、結仇、爭鬥、媢嫉、忿怒、釁隙、朋黨、異端、媢嫉、兇殺、沈湎、饕餮之類、我昔告爾、今復告爾、凡行此者、必不得天主之國、

凡怨恨、嗔怒、氣忿、諠譟、毀謗、及一切毒惡、皆當去於爾中、當彼此慈愛憐憫、更當相恕、如天主為基督恕爾也、

爾心若懷嫉很、紛爭、則勿矜誇、勿誑妄、以敵真理、如此智慧、非由上而來、乃屬地、屬血氣、屬鬼魔、蓋嫉妒紛爭所在、必有亂行及諸惡事、

我身雖遠、而神偕爾、如我與爾同在、已擬定行此事之人、即爾會集之時、我神亦偕爾、奉我主耶穌基督之名、託我主耶穌基督之權、付此人於撒但、以敗其身、使其靈魂、於主耶穌基督之日得救、○

蓋爾尚為屬肉者、爾中有娼嫉、爭鬥、釁隙、豈爾非屬肉、循人意而行乎、有言我宗保羅、有言我宗亞波羅、豈非爾屬肉乎、

爾中戰鬥爭競、何自而來、非自戰於爾百體中之慾乎、爾貪欲而無所得、爾殘殺嫉妒而無所獲、爾戰鬥爭競而亦無所獲、皆因爾不祈求、爾求而不得、因爾妄求、欲以所求者、縱爾之慾、淫亂之男女乎、豈不知愛世即惡天主、凡欲與世為友者、即與天主為敵也、爾以為聖經所言徒然乎、居於我內之神、居於我內之神或作天主所賜居於我內之神乃使人懷慾以致嫉妒乎、或作經載云居於我內之神甚欲我熱中服之爾意是言徒然乎

勿慕虛榮、勿相激怒、勿相嫉妒、

主賜我之權、以建爾、非以敗爾、我即因此多誇、亦無愧也、我言此、免爾曹以為我寄書驚爾、

且求爾勿使我就爾之時、亦有勇敢、蓋有人謂我乃按血氣而行者、我亦思必勇敢自信、毅然以待之、

乖謬者啟爭端、挑事挑事或作談人是非者間密友、

如有人欲爭辯、當知我儕無此例、天主諸教會亦無之、○今我以此諭爾時、亦告爾、我不能嘉獎爾、因爾會集非致益、乃致損也、蓋我聞爾集於會中、彼此紛爭、我畧信之、爾中不免有各異議為黨之事、使爾中練達者顯著、

此等人常出怨言、不自知足、從其慾而行、口出矜誇、為利以諂人、○

爾曹既盡服、我已設備、將責諸違逆之人、○

又恐我復來時、我天主使我於爾中慚愧、且見多人已犯罪、而未悔其所行之污穢、姦淫、邪侈、我則甚憂、

出言矜誇虛誕、以肉體之嗜慾及邪侈之事、誘惑甫脫於妄行之人、

天主之道、豈由爾出乎、豈獨臨爾乎、若有人自以為先知、或自以為感於神者、當知我書此以告爾者、乃主之命也、

我第二次與爾覿面時、已預言之、今與爾相離、復預言之、以書告彼曾犯罪者、及其餘之人云、我若復來、必不寛容、
