你們這一向還以為我們是向你們辯訴呢！不，我們乃是在基督裏、當着上帝面前說話的；而且一切都是為了建立你們的，親愛的啊。

爾尚意我向爾自訴、然我在基督中上帝前而言也、愛友乎、所言悉以建爾、

爾意我欲自訴乎、凡我良朋、余宗基督、在上帝前而言此、悉以輔爾德、

爾等以為吾儕但欲自為辨白耳。實則吾儕對越在天、言不離基督、在一切事上、惟欲己達達人、己立立人而已矣。

Have you been thinking all along that we have been defending ourselves to you? We have been speaking in the sight of God as those in Christ; and everything we do, dear friends, is for your strengthening.

All this time, have you been thinking that I’ve been speaking up for myself? No, I’ve been speaking with God as my witness. I’ve been speaking like a believer in Christ. Dear friends, everything I do is to help you become stronger.

Have you been thinking all along that we have been defending ourselves to you? It is in the sight of God that we have been speaking in Christ, and all for your upbuilding, beloved.

Perhaps you think we’re saying these things just to defend ourselves. No, we tell you this as Christ’s servants, and with God as our witness. Everything we do, dear friends, is to strengthen you.

Have you been thinking all along that we were defending ourselves to you? No, in the sight of God we are speaking in Christ, and everything, dear friends, is for building you up.

All this time you have been thinking that we are defending ourselves to you. Actually, it is in the sight of God that we have been speaking in Christ; and all for building you up, beloved.

Again, do you think that we excuse ourselves to you? We speak before God in Christ. But we do all things, beloved, for your edification.

Ye think all this time that we are excusing ourselves unto you. In the sight of God speak we in Christ. But all things, beloved, are for your edifying.

You have thought all along that we were defending ourselves to you. No, in the sight of God we are speaking in Christ, and everything, dear friends, is for building you up.

Again, think ye that we excuse ourselves unto you? we speak before God in Christ: but[ we do] all things, dearly beloved, for your edifying.

Have you been thinking all this time that we have been defending ourselves to you? We are speaking in Christ before God, and everything we do, dear friends, is to build you up.

Again, do you think that we are excusing ourselves to you? In the sight of God we speak in Christ. But all things, beloved, are for your edifying.

我賴基督、言真而不誑、我內心感於聖神、為我作證、

主賜我之權、以建爾、非以敗爾、我即因此多誇、亦無愧也、

兄弟乎、事當若何、爾曹既集、各人或歌頌、或教訓、

我非復自薦與爾、惟使爾因我有可誇、可答彼憑外貌不憑內心而誇者、我若狂、乃為天主、我若拘謹、乃為爾曹、

我豈復自薦乎、我豈如他人需人之薦書與爾、或需爾之薦書與人乎、

他人尚操此權於爾中、況我儕乎、然我儕未用此權、寧忍一切、免阻基督之福音、爾豈不知務聖事者、由聖所得食乎、侍祭臺者、在祭臺有分乎、主亦如此命傳福音者、賴福音以養生、然此諸權、我悉未用、且我書此、非欲爾如是以待我、我寧死、不可使我所誇者歸於虛、我傳福音、原無可誇、不得已耳、若不傳福音、自以為有禍、我若樂意為此、則必得賞、若不樂意、則其任仍託於我、然則我之賞何歟、即我傳基督之福音、使人無所費而得、不妄用我在福音所有之權、我原自由、不為人轄、而甘為眾役、為欲得眾、於猶太人我如猶太人、以得猶太人、於律法下者我如律法下、以得律法下者、於無律法者我如無律法、以得無律法者、實我在天主前非無律法、乃在基督之律法下、於荏弱者我如荏弱、以得荏弱者、我於眾人如眾人、為欲以多方拯救數人、我為福音行此、欲與人共得福音之益、○

我所愛者、爾當避拜偶像之事、○

雖我愈愛爾、愈不見爾愛我、我仍為爾靈魂、甘於費財盡己、

基督之誠在我心、我指之以誓、在亞該亞全地、必無人能阻我如此自誇、

至愛者乎、我儕既得如此之應許、則當自潔、除身心之諸污、畏天主以成聖、○

我主耶穌基督之父、永可頌之天主、知我不誑言、

愛友乎、勿伸己冤、寧禁止爾怒、寧禁止爾怒或作人忿怒寧聽之經載主曰、伸冤在我、我必報應、又云、

似我凡事使眾喜悅、不求己益、乃求眾人之益、使其得救、

我所愛所慕之兄弟、爾為我之喜樂、我之冠冕、我所愛者乎、爾當信主而堅立、

今我與爾相離、故以此書達爾、使我與爾覿面時、不用嚴法、循主所賜我之權、此權主賜我、乃為建德、非為敗壞也、
