Let the Redeemed of the Lord Say So
1107:1 See Ps. 105:1Oh give thanks to the Lord, 107:1 See Ps. 100:5for he is good,
for his steadfast love endures forever!
2Let 107:2 Ps. 106:10the redeemed of the Lord say so,
whom he has 107:2 Isa. 62:12; 63:4redeemed from trouble107:2 Or from the hand of the foe
3and 107:3 Ps. 106:47; Deut. 30:3; Isa. 11:12; 43:5; 56:8; Jer. 29:14; 31:8, 10; Ezek. 20:34, 41; 39:27gathered in from the lands,
from the east and from the west,
from the north and from the south.

4Some 107:4 ver. 40; [Deut. 32:10] wandered in desert wastes,
finding no way 107:4 ver. 36to a city to dwell in;
5hungry and thirsty,
their soul 107:5 Ps. 77:3fainted within them.
6Then they 107:6 ver. 13, 19, 28; Ps. 106:44cried to the Lord in their trouble,
and he delivered them from their distress.
7He led them by 107:7 Ezra 8:21a straight way
till they reached 107:7 [See ver. 4above]a city to dwell in.
8107:8 ver. 15, 21, 31Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love,
for his wondrous works to the children of man!
9For he 107:9 [Ps. 34:10; 146:7] satisfies the longing soul,
107:9 Luke 1:53and the hungry soul he fills with good things.

10107:10 Luke 1:79; [Isa. 42:7; 49:9; Mic. 7:8] Some sat in darkness and in 107:10 ver. 14; Job 10:21the shadow of death,
prisoners in 107:10 [Job 36:8]affliction and in irons,
11for they 107:11 Ps. 106:7, 33, 43; See Ps. 78:40had rebelled against the words of God,
and 107:11 Prov. 1:30; 5:12; 15:5; [Deut. 31:20; Luke 7:30]spurned the counsel of the Most High.
12So he bowed their hearts down with hard labor;
they fell down, 107:12 See Ps. 22:11with none to help.
13107:13 ver. 6, 19, 28Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble,
and he delivered them from their distress.
14He brought them out of 107:14 See ver. 10darkness and the shadow of death,
and 107:14 [Ps. 2:3]burst their bonds apart.
15107:15 ver. 8, 21, 31Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love,
for his wondrous works to the children of man!
16For he 107:16 Isa. 45:2shatters the doors of bronze
and cuts in two the bars of iron.

17Some were 107:17 Prov. 1:7; 14:9fools through their sinful ways,
and because of their iniquities suffered affliction;
18107:18 Job 33:20they loathed any kind of food,
and they 107:18 Ps. 88:3; Job 33:22drew near to 107:18 See Job 38:17the gates of death.
19107:19 ver. 6, 13, 28Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble,
and he delivered them from their distress.
20He 107:20 Ps. 147:15, 18; [Matt. 8:8] sent out his word and 107:20 Ps. 30:2, 3; 2 Kgs. 20:5; Job 33:29, 30healed them,
and 107:20 Ps. 103:4delivered them from their destruction.
21107:21 ver. 8, 15, 31Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love,
for his wondrous works to the children of man!
22And let them 107:22 See Ps. 50:14offer sacrifices of thanksgiving,
and 107:22 Ps. 9:11; See Ps. 118:17tell of his deeds in 107:22 Ps. 105:43songs of joy!

23Some 107:23 Isa. 42:10went down to the sea in ships,
doing business on the great waters;
24they saw the deeds of the Lord,
his wondrous works in the deep.
25For he 107:25 Ps. 105:31, 34commanded and 107:25 Ps. 148:8; Jonah 1:4raised the stormy wind,
which lifted up the waves of the sea.
26They mounted up to heaven; they went down to the depths;
their courage 107:26 Ps. 119:28; See Ps. 22:14melted away in their evil plight;
27they reeled and 107:27 Isa. 24:20; 29:9; See Job 12:25staggered like drunken men
and 107:27 Isa. 19:3were at their wits’ end.107:27 Hebrew and all their wisdom was swallowed up
28107:28 ver. 6, 13, 19Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble,
and he delivered them from their distress.
29He 107:29 See Ps. 65:7made the storm be still,
and the waves of the sea were hushed.
30Then they were glad that the waters107:30 Hebrew they were quiet,
and he brought them to their desired haven.
31107:31 ver. 8, 15, 21Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love,
for his wondrous works to the children of man!
32Let them 107:32 See Ps. 99:5extol him in 107:32 Ps. 22:22, 25the congregation of the people,
and praise him in the assembly of the elders.

33He 107:33 Isa. 50:2; [Isa. 42:15]turns rivers into a desert,
springs of water into thirsty ground,
34107:34 [Gen. 13:10; 14:3; Deut. 29:23]; See Gen. 19:24-28a fruitful land into a salty waste,
because of the evil of its inhabitants.
35He 107:35 Ps. 114:8; Isa. 41:18; [Isa. 35:6, 7; 43:19, 20] turns a desert into pools of water,
107:35 Job 38:26, 27a parched land into springs of water.
36And there he lets the hungry dwell,
and they establish 107:36 ver. 4, 7a city to live in;
37they sow fields and plant vineyards
and get a fruitful yield.
38107:38 Gen. 12:2; 17:20; Ex. 1:7By his blessing they multiply greatly,
and he does not let their livestock diminish.

39When they are diminished and brought low
through oppression, evil, and sorrow,
40107:40 Job 12:21he pours contempt on princes
and 107:40 Job 12:24makes them wander 107:40 [Deut. 32:10]in trackless wastes;
41but 107:41 Ps. 113:7, 8; 1 Sam. 2:8he raises up the needy out of affliction
and 107:41 Job 21:11makes their families like flocks.
42107:42 See Job 22:19The upright see it and are glad,
and 107:42 See Ps. 63:11all wickedness shuts its mouth.

43107:43 [Ps. 64:9; Jer. 9:12; Hos. 14:9]Whoever is wise, let him attend to these things;
let them consider the steadfast love of the Lord.
