The High Priestly Prayer

1When Jesus had spoken these words, 17:1 ch. 11:41he lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, “Father, 17:1 [ch. 7:30]; See ch. 12:23the hour has come; 17:1 See ch. 7:39glorify your Son that the Son may 17:1 ver. 4glorify you,

2since 17:2 See Matt. 28:18; Rev. 2:26, 27you have given him authority over all flesh, 17:2 ch. 10:28; 1 John 2:25to give eternal life to all 17:2 ver. 6, 9, 24; ch. 6:37, 39; 10:29; 18:9; Heb. 2:13whom you have given him.

317:3 [1 John 5:20] And this is eternal life, 17:3 Hos. 2:20; 6:3; 2 Pet. 1:2, 3that they know you, 17:3 ch. 5:44the only 17:3 1 Thess. 1:9; 1 John 5:20; [Jer. 10:10] true God, and 17:3 See ch. 3:17Jesus Christ whom you have sent.

4I 17:4 ver. 1; See ch. 13:31glorified you on earth, 17:4 [ch. 19:30; Luke 22:37]having accomplished the work that you gave me to do.

5And now, Father, 17:5 ch. 13:32glorify me in your own presence with the glory 17:5 ch. 1:1, 2; [Rev. 3:21] that I had with you 17:5 ver. 24; Prov. 8:23; See ch. 8:58before the world existed.

617:6 ver. 26; Ps. 22:22“I have manifested your name to the people 17:6 See ver. 2whom you gave me out of the world. 17:6 ver. 9Yours they were, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word.

7Now they know that everything 17:7 [See ver. 6above]that you have given me is from you.

8For I have given them 17:8 ver. 14; ch. 15:15; [ch. 8:26; 12:49] the words that you gave me, and they have received them and have come to know in truth that 17:8 ch. 8:42; 16:27I came from you; and 17:8 ver. 21, 25; ch. 11:42; 16:30they have believed that you sent me.

9I am praying for them. 17:9 [ver. 20, 21] I am not praying for the world but for those 17:9 See ver. 2whom you have given me, for 17:9 ver. 6they are yours.

1017:10 ch. 16:15All mine are yours, and yours are mine, and 17:10 2 Thess. 1:10I am glorified in them.

11And I am no longer in the world, but 17:11 ch. 13:1they are in the world, and 17:11 See ch. 14:12I am coming to you. 17:11 [ver. 25] Holy Father, 17:11 ver. 12, 15; Jude 1keep them in your name, 17:11 [Ex. 23:21; Phil. 2:9; Rev. 19:12] which you have given me, 17:11 ver. 21, 22; [ch. 10:16; Rom. 12:5; Gal. 3:28; Eph. 1:10; 4:4] that they may be one, 17:11 ch. 10:30even as we are one.

1217:12 See ch. 14:25While I was with them, I kept them in your name, which you have given me. I have 17:12 2 Thess. 3:3; Jude 24guarded them, and 17:12 ch. 18:9; [ch. 6:39; 10:28] not one of them has been lost except 17:12 2 Thess. 2:3the son of destruction, 17:12 Ps. 109:8; Acts 1:16-20; [ch. 13:18]that the Scripture might be fulfilled.

13But now 17:13 See ch. 14:12I am coming to you, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have 17:13 See ch. 15:11my joy fulfilled in themselves.

24Father, I desire that they also, whom you have given me, may be 17:24 2 Tim. 2:11, 12with me 17:24 See ch. 12:26where I am, 17:24 ch. 1:14; 2 Cor. 3:18; [1 John 3:2] to see my glory that you have given me because you loved me 17:24 Eph. 1:4; 1 Pet. 1:20; See ver. 5before the foundation of the world.

2517:25 Jer. 12:1; [ver. 11; Rev. 16:5]; See 1 John 1:9O righteous Father, even though 17:25 See ch. 8:55; 10:15the world does not know you, I know you, and these know that you have sent me.
