The Seven Bowls of God’s Wrath
1Then I heard a loud voice from the temple telling 16:1 See ch. 15:1the seven angels, “Go and 16:1 Ps. 79:6; Jer. 10:25; Zeph. 3:8pour out on the earth 16:1 ch. 15:7the seven bowls of the wrath of God.”
2So the first angel went and poured out his bowl on the earth, and harmful and painful 16:2 ver. 11; Ex. 9:9-11sores came upon the people who bore 16:2 ch. 13:16the mark of the beast and worshiped its image.
3The second angel poured out his bowl into the sea, and 16:3 ch. 8:8it became like the blood of a corpse, and 16:3 ch. 8:9every living thing died that was in the sea.
4The third angel poured out his bowl into 16:4 ch. 8:10the rivers and the springs of water, and 16:4 Ex. 7:17-20they became blood.
5And I heard the angel in charge of the waters16:5 Greek angel of the waters say,

16:5 Jer. 12:1; John 17:25“Just are you, 16:5 ch. 15:4O Holy One, 16:5 ch. 11:17; [ch. 1:4, 8; 4:8]who is and who was,
for you brought these judgments.
6For 16:6 ch. 18:24; [ch. 13:15] they have shed the blood of 16:6 ch. 11:18saints and prophets,
and 16:6 [Isa. 49:26; Luke 11:49, 50]you have given them blood to drink.
It is what they deserve!”

7And I heard 16:7 ch. 6:9the altar saying,

“Yes, Lord God the Almighty,
16:7 ch. 15:3; 19:2; [Ps. 119:137]true and just are your judgments!”

8The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and it was allowed to scorch people 16:8 ch. 9:17; [ch. 14:18]with fire.
9They were scorched by the fierce heat, and 16:9 ver. 11, 21they cursed16:9 Greek blasphemed; also verses 11, 21 the name of God who had power over these plagues. 16:9 [Dan. 5:22]; See ch. 2:21They did not repent 16:9 [Dan. 5:23]; See ch. 11:13and give him glory.
10The fifth angel poured out his bowl on 16:10 ch. 13:2the throne of the beast, and 16:10 ch. 9:2; Ex. 10:21its kingdom was plunged into darkness. People gnawed their tongues in anguish
11and cursed 16:11 ch. 11:13the God of heaven for their pain and 16:11 ver. 2sores. 16:11 See ch. 2:21They did not repent of their deeds.
12The sixth angel poured out his bowl on 16:12 ch. 9:14the great river Euphrates, and 16:12 Isa. 11:15; 44:27; Jer. 50:38; 51:32, 36its water was dried up, 16:12 [Isa. 41:2, 25; 46:11] to prepare the way for the kings 16:12 ch. 7:2from the east.
13And I saw, coming out of the mouth of 16:13 ch. 12:3, 9the dragon and out of the mouth of 16:13 ch. 13:1the beast and out of the mouth of 16:13 ch. 19:20; 20:10; [ch. 13:11, 14] the false prophet, three 16:13 ch. 18:2unclean spirits like 16:13 [Ex. 8:6]frogs.
14For they are 16:14 [1 Tim. 4:1] demonic spirits, 16:14 See ch. 13:13performing signs, who go abroad to the kings of the whole world, 16:14 ch. 20:8; [ch. 17:14; 19:19; 1 Kgs. 22:20] to assemble them for battle on 16:14 See ch. 6:17the great day of God the Almighty.
15(“Behold, 16:15 See ch. 3:3I am coming like a thief! 16:15 ch. 3:2, 3; See Matt. 24:42Blessed is the one who stays awake, keeping his garments on, 16:15 ch. 3:18that he may not go about naked and be seen exposed!”)
16And 16:16 ch. 19:19they assembled them at the place that in Hebrew is called 16:16 Zech. 12:11; See Judg. 5:19Armageddon.
The Seventh Bowl
17The seventh angel poured out his bowl into 16:17 [Eph. 2:2] the air, and a loud voice came out of the temple, from the throne, saying, 16:17 See ch. 10:6“It is done!”
18And there were 16:18 ch. 4:5; 8:5; 11:19flashes of lightning, rumblings,16:18 Or voices, or sounds peals of thunder, and 16:18 ch. 6:12; 11:13a great earthquake 16:18 Dan. 12:1; Joel 2:2; Matt. 24:21such as there had never been since man was on the earth, so great was that earthquake.
1916:19 ch. 11:8The great city 16:19 [ch. 11:13] was split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell, and God 16:19 ch. 18:5; [Ps. 74:18] remembered 16:19 See ch. 14:8Babylon the great, 16:19 See ch. 14:10to make her drain the cup of the wine of the fury of his wrath.
20And 16:20 See ch. 6:14every island fled away, and no mountains were to be found.
21And 16:21 ch. 11:19great hailstones, about one hundred pounds16:21 Greek a talent in weight each, fell from heaven on people; and 16:21 ver. 9, 11they cursed God for 16:21 Ex. 9:23-25the plague of the hail, because the plague was so severe.
