For the music director. A Psalm of David.

1Hear my voice, God, in my Or concerncomplaint;
Protect my life from dread of the enemy.
2Hide me from the secret discussion of evildoers,
From the restlessness of the workers of injustice,
3Who have sharpened their tongues like a sword.
They aimed bitter speech as their arrows,
4To shoot Lit infrom concealment at the innocent;
Suddenly they shoot at him, and do not fear.
5They make firm for themselves an evil Lit matterpurpose;
They Lit tell oftalk of setting snares secretly;
They say, “Who can see them?”
6They Or search outdevise injustices, saying,
“We are Lit completeready with a well-conceived plot”;
For the Or inward partinward thought and the heart of a person are Or unsearchabledeep.
7But God Or shotwill shoot an arrow at them;
Suddenly Or they were wounded; lit their wounds occurredthey will be wounded.
8So Or they make their tongue a stumbling for themselvesthey Or madewill make him stumble;
Their own tongue is against them;
All who see them will shake their heads.
9Then all people Or fearedwill fear,
And they Or declaredwill declare the work of God,
And Or consideredwill consider Lit His workwhat He has done.
10The righteous person will be glad in the Lord and take refuge in Him;
And all the upright in heart will boast.
