But the Jerusalem above is free, and she is our mother.

Rejoice greatly, daughter of Zion! Shout, daughter of Jerusalem! Look! Your king is coming to you: he is legitimate and victorious, humble and riding on a donkey– on a young donkey, the foal of a female donkey.

At that moment, she came up to them and began to give thanks to God and to speak about the child to all who were waiting for the redemption of Jerusalem.

For you will nurse from her satisfying breasts and be nourished; you will feed with joy from her milk-filled breasts.For this is what the LORD says:“ Look, I am ready to extend to her prosperity that will flow like a river, the riches of nations will flow into her like a stream that floods its banks. You will nurse from her breast and be carried at her side; you will play on her knees.

For this reason the sovereign master himself will give you a confirming sign. Look, this young woman is about to conceive and will give birth to a son. You, young woman, will name him Immanuel.

I will also shake up all the nations, and they will offer their treasures; then I will fill this temple with glory,’ says the LORD who rules over all.

For a child has been born to us, a son has been given to us. He shoulders responsibility and is called: Extraordinary Strategist, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Listen, O princess! Observe and pay attention! Forget your homeland and your family!Then the king will be attracted by your beauty. After all, he is your master! Submit to him!

when the LORD rebuilds Zion, and reveals his splendor,when he responds to the prayer of the destitute, and does not reject their request.

“ I am about to send my messenger, who will clear the way before me. Indeed, the Lord you are seeking will suddenly come to his temple, and the messenger of the covenant, whom you long for, is certainly coming,” says the LORD who rules over all.

The children of your oppressors will come bowing to you; all who treated you with disrespect will bow down at your feet. They will call you,‘ The City of the LORD, Zion of the Holy One of Israel.’

Now the Word became flesh and took up residence among us. We saw his glory– the glory of the one and only, full of grace and truth, who came from the Father.

Then Jesus turned to his disciples and said privately,“ Blessed are the eyes that see what you see!For I tell you that many prophets and kings longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.”

for then he would have had to suffer again and again since the foundation of the world. But now he has appeared once for all at the consummation of the ages to put away sin by his sacrifice.And just as people are appointed to die once, and then to face judgment,so also, after Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many, to those who eagerly await him he will appear a second time, not to bear sin but to bring salvation.

God chose what is low and despised in the world, what is regarded as nothing, to set aside what is regarded as something,

He replied,“ I do not know whether he is a sinner. I do know one thing– that although I was blind, now I can see.”Then they said to him,“ What did he do to you? How did he cause you to see?”He answered,“ I told you already and you didn’t listen. Why do you want to hear it again? You people don’t want to become his disciples too, do you?”They heaped insults on him, saying,“ You are his disciple! We are disciples of Moses!We know that God has spoken to Moses! We do not know where this man comes from!”The man replied,“ This is a remarkable thing, that you don’t know where he comes from, and yet he caused me to see!We know that God doesn’t listen to sinners, but if anyone is devout and does his will, God listens to him.Never before has anyone heard of someone causing a man born blind to see.If this man were not from God, he could do nothing.”They replied,“ You were born completely in sinfulness, and yet you presume to teach us?” So they threw him out.Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, so he found the man and said to him,“ Do you believe in the Son of Man?”The man replied,“ And who is he, sir, that I may believe in him?”Jesus told him,“ You have seen him; he is the one speaking with you.”[He said,“ Lord, I believe,” and he worshiped him.

Because Jesus knew that the Father had handed all things over to him, and that he had come from God and was going back to God,

The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit– O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.

The officers replied,“ No one ever spoke like this man!”Then the Pharisees answered,“ You haven’t been deceived too, have you?None of the rulers or the Pharisees have believed in him, have they?But this rabble who do not know the law are accursed!”Nicodemus, who had gone to Jesus before and who was one of the rulers, said,“ Our law doesn’t condemn a man unless it first hears from him and learns what he is doing, does it?”They replied,“ You aren’t from Galilee too, are you? Investigate carefully and you will see that no prophet comes from Galilee!”[[

“ I tell you, whoever acknowledges me before men, the Son of Man will also acknowledge before God’s angels.

No one has ascended into heaven except the one who descended from heaven– the Son of Man.

Jesus also told this parable to some who were confident that they were righteous and looked down on everyone else.

But Jesus said,“ Leave her alone. Why are you bothering her? She has done a good service for me.For you will always have the poor with you, and you can do good for them whenever you want. But you will not always have me!She did what she could. She anointed my body beforehand for burial.I tell you the truth, wherever the gospel is proclaimed in the whole world, what she has done will also be told in memory of her.”

but we see Jesus, who was made lower than the angels for a little while, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by God’s grace he would experience death on behalf of everyone.For it was fitting for him, for whom and through whom all things exist, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through sufferings.For indeed he who makes holy and those being made holy all have the same origin, and so he is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters,saying,“ I will proclaim your name to my brothers; in the midst of the assembly I will praise you.”Again he says,“ I will be confident in him,” and again,“ Here I am, with the children God has given me.”Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, he likewise shared in their humanity, so that through death he could destroy the one who holds the power of death( that is, the devil),

Give sincere homage! Otherwise he will be angry, and you will die because of your behavior, when his anger quickly ignites. How blessed are all who take shelter in him!

For we are the circumcision, the ones who worship by the Spirit of God, exult in Christ Jesus, and do not rely on human credentials

And we all agree, our religion contains amazing revelation: He was revealed in the flesh, vindicated by the Spirit, seen by angels, proclaimed among Gentiles, believed on in the world, taken up in glory.

You gave me no kiss of greeting, but from the time I entered she has not stopped kissing my feet.You did not anoint my head with oil, but she has anointed my feet with perfumed oil.Therefore I tell you, her sins, which were many, are forgiven, thus she loved much; but the one who is forgiven little loves little.”Then Jesus said to her,“ Your sins are forgiven.”

Oh, how I wish youwould kiss me passionately! For your lovemaking is more delightfulthan wine.

For whoever is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of that person when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.

But these assets I have come to regard as liabilities because of Christ.More than that, I now regard all things as liabilities compared to the far greater value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things– indeed, I regard them as dung!– that I may gain Christ,

But may I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.

I came from the Father and entered into the world, but in turn, I am leaving the world and going back to the Father.”

Jesus replied,“ If God were your Father, you would love me, for I have come from God and am now here. I have not come on my own initiative, but he sent me.

“ But your eyes are blessed because they see, and your ears because they hear.For I tell you the truth, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.

“ The one who listens to you listens to me, and the one who rejects you rejects me, and the one who rejects me rejects the one who sent me.”

And a poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, worth less than a penny.He called his disciples and said to them,“ I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the offering box than all the others.For they all gave out of their wealth. But she, out of her poverty, put in what she had to live on, everything she had.”

It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.So Simeon, directed by the Spirit, came into the temple courts, and when the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for him what was customary according to the law,Simeon took him in his arms and blessed God, saying,“ Now, according to your word, Sovereign Lord, permit your servant to depart in peace.For my eyes have seen your salvationthat you have prepared in the presence of all peoples:a light, for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory to your people Israel.”
