Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

且聖神亦如是助我儕之弱、蓋我不知宜如何祈禱、惟聖神以莫可言之太息、代我懇求、

我儕荏弱、聖神助我、我不識所當禱者、聖神以不可言之嘅嘆代我禱也、

且我儕懦弱、聖神助我、蓋我儕不知所當禱者、聖神以不可言之歎息代我禱也、

即聖神因鑒於吾人之闇弱、而昧於祈禱之道、亦多方相助、以不可思議之歎息、而為吾人代求焉。

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.

In the same way, the Holy Spirit helps us when we are weak. We don’t know what we should pray for. But the Spirit himself prays for us. He prays through groans too deep for words.

For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

The LORD hath heard my supplication; the LORD will receive my prayer.

Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume[ it] upon your lusts.

And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.

And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for[ his] only[ son], and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for[ his] firstborn.

But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able.

For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as[ we are, yet] without sin.

For we that are in[ this] tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.

Give ear to my prayer, O God; and hide not thyself from my supplication.Attend unto me, and hear me: I mourn in my complaint, and make a noise;

Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

I cried unto God with my voice,[ even] unto God with my voice; and he gave ear unto me.In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord: my sore ran in the night, and ceased not: my soul refused to be comforted.I remembered God, and was troubled: I complained, and my spirit was overwhelmed. Selah.

Therefore is my spirit overwhelmed within me; my heart within me is desolate.I remember the days of old; I meditate on all thy works; I muse on the work of thy hands.I stretch forth my hands unto thee: my soul[ thirsteth] after thee, as a thirsty land. Selah.Hear me speedily, O LORD: my spirit faileth: hide not thy face from me, lest I be like unto them that go down into the pit.

As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where[ is] thy God?When I remember these[ things], I pour out my soul in me: for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holyday.Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and[ why] art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him[ for] the help of his countenance.

LORD, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear:

O LORD God of my salvation, I have cried day[ and] night before thee:Let my prayer come before thee: incline thine ear unto my cry;For my soul is full of troubles: and my life draweth nigh unto the grave.

To hear the groaning of the prisoner; to loose those that are appointed to death;

And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.Give us day by day our daily bread.And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.And he said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go unto him at midnight, and say unto him, Friend, lend me three loaves;For a friend of mine in his journey is come to me, and I have nothing to set before him?And he from within shall answer and say, Trouble me not: the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give thee.I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needeth.And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if[ he ask] a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall[ your] heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity.

By reason of the voice of my groaning my bones cleave to my skin.

I am weary of my crying: my throat is dried: mine eyes fail while I wait for my God.

O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?

My soul is also sore vexed: but thou, O LORD, how long?

For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:
