Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him,“ So shall your offspring be.”

When there was no reason for hope, Abraham believed because he had hope. He became the father of many nations, exactly as God had promised. God said,“ That is how many children you will have.”( Genesis 15:5)

In hope he believed against hope, that he should become the father of many nations, as he had been told,“ So shall your offspring be.”

Even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping— believing that he would become the father of many nations. For God had said to him,“ That’s how many descendants you will have!”

於是領他到外面去，說：“你向天觀看，數點眾星，看你能不能把它們數得清楚。”又對他說：“你的後裔將要這樣眾多。”亞伯蘭信耶和華，耶和華就以此算為他的義了。

我們得救時就存著這盼望；但是看得見的盼望不是盼望，因為誰會盼望自己看見了的呢？

盼望是不會令人蒙羞的，因為神藉著所賜給我們的聖靈，把他的愛澆灌在我們的心裡。

耶穌還在說話的時候，有人從會堂主管的家裡來說：“你的女兒已經死了，何必還勞動老師呢？”耶穌聽見所說的話，就對會堂主管說：“不要怕！只要信！”

所以，各位請放心。我相信神對我怎樣說，也必怎樣成就。

拿俄米說：“我女兒啊，你們回去吧，為甚麼要跟我去呢？我肚子裡還有兒子作你們的丈夫嗎？走吧，我女兒啊，你們回去吧，因為我太老，不能嫁人了，就算我說我還有希望今天晚上有個丈夫，又生兒子，你們可以等到他們長大嗎？你們可以為他們守節而不嫁人嗎？不行，我女兒啊，我為你們非常難過，因為耶和華伸手對付我。”

所盼望的遲延未得，令人心憂；所願的來到，好比生命樹。

如經上所記：“我已經立了你作萬國的父。”他所信的，是叫死人得生命、使無變為有的神。

他對我說：“人子啊！這些骸骨就是以色列全家；他們常說：‘我們的骸骨枯乾了，我們的盼望消失了；我們都滅亡了。’

撒迦利亞對天使說：“我怎麼能知道這事呢？我已經老了，我妻子也上了年紀。”

他快到一百歲的時候，想到自己的身體好像已經死了，撒拉也不能生育，他的信心還是不軟弱，
