Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law[ is] the knowledge of sin.

蓋徒恃遵行律法、無人能稱義於天主之前；惟因法而知罪耳。

Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.

So no one will be considered right with God by obeying the law. Instead, the law makes us more aware of our sin.

For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin.

For no one can ever be made right with God by doing what the law commands. The law simply shows us how sinful we are.

For no one will be justified in his sight by the works of the law, because the knowledge of sin comes through the law.

because by the works of the Law none of mankind will be justified in His sight; for through the Law comes knowledge of sin.

Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is,[ there is] no transgression.

For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.

Wherefore? Because[ they sought it] not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;

Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:

For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world,[ was] not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves:[ it is] the gift of God:Not of works, lest any man should boast.

What shall we say then?[ Is] the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin[ was] dead.For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.

For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed[ is] every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God,[ it is] evident: for, The just shall live by faith.And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed[ is] every one that hangeth on a tree:

And enter not into judgment with thy servant: for in thy sight shall no man living be justified.

( For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.

But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent[ them] out another way?For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

( For not the hearers of the law[ are] just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.

If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand?

Behold, he putteth no trust in his saints; yea, the heavens are not clean in his sight.

But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one[ point], he is guilty of all.

How then can man be justified with God? or how can he be clean[ that is] born of a woman?Behold even to the moon, and it shineth not; yea, the stars are not pure in his sight.
