Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy.

Let us act as we should, like people living in the daytime. Have nothing to do with wild parties, and don’t get drunk. Don’t take part in sexual sins or evil conduct. Don’t fight with each other or be jealous of anyone.

Let us walk properly as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in quarreling and jealousy.

Because we belong to the day, we must live decent lives for all to see. Don’t participate in the darkness of wild parties and drunkenness, or in sexual promiscuity and immoral living, or in quarreling and jealousy.

For the time that has passed was sufficient for you to do what the non- Christians desire. You lived then in debauchery, evil desires, drunkenness, carousing, drinking bouts, and wanton idolatries.So they are astonished when you do not rush with them into the same flood of wickedness, and they vilify you.They will face a reckoning before Jesus Christ who stands ready to judge the living and the dead.

And do not get drunk with wine, which is debauchery, but be filled by the Spirit,

Or do you think the scripture means nothing when it says,“ The spirit that God caused to live within us has an envious yearning”?

The one who says he resides in God ought himself to walk just as Jesus walked.

For by speaking high- sounding but empty words they are able to entice, with fleshly desires and with debauchery, people who have just escaped from those who reside in error.Although these false teachers promise such people freedom, they themselves are enslaved to immorality. For whatever a person succumbs to, to that he is enslaved.For if after they have escaped the filthy things of the world through the rich knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they again get entangled in them and succumb to them, their last state has become worse for them than their first.

So get rid of all evil and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander.And yearn like newborn infants for pure, spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up to salvation,

Dear friends, I urge you as foreigners and exiles to keep away from fleshly desires that do battle against the soul,and maintain good conduct among the non- Christians, so that though they now malign you as wrongdoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God when he appears.

Therefore be very careful how you live– not as unwise but as wise,

However, if you continually bite and devour one another, beware that you are not consumed by one another.But I say, live by the Spirit and you will not carry out the desires of the flesh.

So put to deat h whatever in your nature belongs to the earth: sexual immorality, impurity, shameful passion, evil desire, and greed which is idolatry.

Instead of being motivated by selfish ambition or vanity, each of you should, in humility, be moved to treat one another as more important than yourself.

“ There was a rich man who dressed in purple and fine linen and who feasted sumptuously every day.

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of respect, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if something is excellent or praiseworthy, think about these things.And what you learned and received and heard and saw in me, do these things. for you were at one time darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of the light–

So I say this, and insist in the Lord, that you no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking.

Nevertheless, let us live up to the standard that we have already attained.Be imitators of me, brothers and sisters, and watch carefully those who are living this way, just as you have us as an example.For many live, about whom I have often told you, and now, with tears, I tell you that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ.Their end is destruction, their god is the belly, they exult in their shame, and they think about earthly things.But our citizenship is in heaven– and we also await a savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,

suffering harm as the wages for their harmful ways. By considering it a pleasure to carouse in broad daylight, they are stains and blemishes, indulging in their deceitful pleasures when they feast together with you.Their eyes, full of adultery, never stop sinning; they entice unstable people. They have trained their hearts for greed, these cursed children!

But if you have bitter jealousy and selfishness in your hearts, do not boast and tell lies against the truth.Such wisdom does not come from above but is earthly, natural, demonic.For where there is jealousy and selfishness, there is disorder and every evil practice.

Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ so that– whether I come and see you or whether I remain absent– I should hear that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind, by contending side by side for the faith of the gospel,

and live in love, just as Christ also loved us and gave himself for us, a sacrificial and fragrant offering to God.But among you there must not be either sexual immorality, impurity of any kind, or greed, as these are not fitting for the saints.Neither should there be vulgar speech, foolish talk, or coarse jesting– all of which are out of character– but rather thanksgiving.For you can be confident of this one thing: that no person who is immoral, impure, or greedy( such a person is an idolater) has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.

Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived! The sexually immoral, idolaters, adulterers, passive homosexual partners, practicing homosexuals,thieves, the greedy, drunkards, the verbally abusive, and swindlers will not inherit the kingdom of God.

In spite of what you think, these men are not drunk, for it is only nine o’clock in the morning.
