你看见的这怪兽以前出现过，现今没有出现，将来要从无底坑上来，然后走向灭亡。那些住在地上、自创世以来名字没有记在生命册上的人，都因见到这只从前出现过、现今没有出现、将来会再出现的怪兽而感到惊奇。

它在头一只怪兽面前获准行奇迹，欺骗了普世的人，并吩咐他们为受了刀伤却仍然活着的头一只怪兽塑像。

他们一致同意把自己所有的能力和权柄交给那怪兽。

因为上帝使众王定意这样做，好完成祂的旨意。他们便同心将政权交给那怪兽，直到上帝的话得到实现。

我又看见一只怪兽从海中上来，有七头十角，每只角上都戴着一个冠冕，每个头上都写着亵渎上帝的名号。它看起来像豹，却有熊的脚和狮子的口。巨龙将自己的能力、王位和大权柄都交给了怪兽。

在头一只怪兽面前行使头一只怪兽的一切权柄。它命令世上的人拜曾受了致命伤但已复原的头一只怪兽，

无论贵贱，众人都听从他，称他为“上帝的大能者”。他们听从他，因为他长期用邪术迷惑他们。

我要使巴比伦王的臂膀强壮有力，把我的刀交在他手中。我要打断法老的臂膀，使法老在他面前像受了致命伤的人一样呻吟。

其中五个已经衰亡，一个还在，另外一个还未来到，他来后只能短暂存留。

他来要按照撒旦的伎俩行各样虚假的异能、神迹和奇事，用尽各样诡计欺骗那些将要灭亡的人，因为他们不喜欢接受那能拯救他们的真理。上帝就让他们是非不辨，去相信那些虚假的谎言，使一切不相信真理、反喜爱不义的人都被定罪。

西门本人也信了基督，接受了洗礼，并常常追随腓利左右。腓利所行的神迹奇事令他非常惊奇。
