第五位天使把他的碗倒在那獸的寶座上，獸的國就變成黑暗了，人們因痛苦而咬自己的舌頭。

你所看見的那十隻角，是十個王，他們還沒有得到王權，然而他們要得到權柄，與那獸一同做王一段時間。

他抓住了龍——那古蛇，就是魔鬼撒旦，把牠捆綁了一千年。

於是那巨龍被摔了下來。牠就是那古蛇，被稱為魔鬼和撒旦，那迷惑普天下的。牠被摔在地上，牠的使者們也與牠一起被摔了下來。

但那獸被抓了；那假先知也與牠一起被抓了——他在獸面前行了許多奇蹟，藉此迷惑那些接受獸的印記並膜拜獸像的人。獸和那假先知兩個都活生生地被丟進燃燒著硫磺的火湖裡。

他們膜拜龍，因為牠把權柄交給了獸。他們也膜拜獸，說：「誰能與這獸相比呢？誰能與牠交戰呢？」

你們要謹慎，要警醒。你們的仇敵魔鬼就像咆哮的獅子走來走去，尋找可吞吃的人。

隨後，天上出現了另一個徵兆：看哪，一條火紅色的巨龍，有七個頭和十隻角，七個頭上戴著七個王冠。牠的尾巴拖著天上星辰的三分之一，把它們摔在地上。這龍站在那快要生產的婦人面前，為要在她生產之後，吞吃她的孩子。

「第一隻獸好像獅子，卻有鷹的翅膀。我繼續觀看，牠的翅膀被拔掉，牠從地上被舉起，像人那樣用雙腳站立，又被賜予了一顆人的心。「看哪，有另一隻獸，就是第二隻，彷彿一隻熊！牠用一側站立，口中的牙齒之間有三根肋骨；有話對牠這樣說：『起來，吞吃大量的肉！』「此後我繼續觀看，看哪，又有另一隻獸好像豹子！牠的背上有鳥的四個翅膀；這獸有四個頭，並且被賜予了權柄。「此後在夜間的異象中我繼續觀看，看哪，第四隻獸非常恐怖、十分可怕、極其強壯！牠有大鐵牙，吞吃咬碎，又把剩餘的用腳踩踏；牠與之前的各獸都不相同，牠有十隻犄角。

蛇就在那婦人後面，從口裡吐出水來，像江河一樣，要把她沖走。

那龍一見自己被摔在地上，就追逼那生了男孩的婦人。

大衛對掃羅說：「你的僕人是為父親牧羊的，當獅子或熊過來，從畜群中叼走一隻羔羊時，我就出去追趕牠，攻擊牠，把羊從牠口中解救出來。牠起來攻擊我，我就揪住牠的鬍鬚，擊打牠，把牠殺死。無論獅子還是熊，你的僕人都擊殺過。這未受割禮的非利士人也必像牠們中的一個，因為他辱罵永生神的軍隊。」大衛又說：「從獅子爪和熊掌解救我的耶和華，他必解救我脫離這非利士人的手。」於是掃羅對大衛說：「你去吧，願耶和華與你同在！」

寧可遇見被奪去幼崽的母熊，也不要遇見行在愚妄中的愚昧人。

但是主站在我身邊，使我剛強，為要藉著我使傳道得以完成，讓所有外邦人都能聽見；我也從獅子口裡被救了出來。

邪惡的管轄者統治貧弱的民眾，就如咆哮的獅子、猛衝的熊。

他們的怒吼如母獅，吼叫如壯獅；他們咆哮，抓住獵物叼走，無人能救。

求你拯救我脫離獅子的口，脫離野牛的犄角。你已經應允了我。
