隨後，天上出現了另一個徵兆：看哪，一條火紅色的巨龍，有七個頭和十隻角，七個頭上戴著七個王冠。

於是我在靈裡被天使帶到曠野。隨後，我看見一個女人騎在一隻深紅色的獸上，這獸有七個頭，十隻角，遍體布滿了褻瀆的名號。

他們做完了見證以後，那從無底坑裡上來的獸將與他們作戰，並且將勝過他們，把他們殺死。

「那位侍立者這樣說：『那第四隻獸是地上將有的第四個國，與其他各國都不相同，必吞吃全地，把它踐踏咬碎。至於那十隻犄角，是從這國中將要興起的十個王；在他們之後將有另一個王興起，與先前的那些都不相同，必使三個王屈服。他必說話敵對至高者，折磨至高者的聖徒們，又企圖更改所定的時候和法令；聖徒們將被交在他的手中一期、二期、半期。

「這王任意而行，自高自大，高抬自己超過一切神明，並說荒謬的話來敵對萬神之神；他事事順利，直到憤怒的時期終結，因為那被註定的事必成就。

但以理開口說：「我在夜間的異象中正在觀看，看哪，天上四方的風攪動大海！有四隻巨獸從海裡上來，各個都不相同。

「此後在夜間的異象中我繼續觀看，看哪，第四隻獸非常恐怖、十分可怕、極其強壯！牠有大鐵牙，吞吃咬碎，又把剩餘的用腳踩踏；牠與之前的各獸都不相同，牠有十隻犄角。「我正在注視這些犄角，看哪，有另一隻小犄角在它們中間長出來，先前的那些犄角中有三隻從牠面前被連根拔出！看哪，這犄角上有眼睛，好像人的眼睛，又有說大話的口！

你所看見的那十隻角和那獸，他們將恨惡那淫婦，並且將使她成為荒蕪、赤身露體，又要吃她的肉，而且用火燒掉她。

「那時我很想知道有關那第四隻獸的真義；那獸與其他各獸都不相同，牠極其恐怖，有鐵牙和銅爪，吞吃咬碎，又把剩餘的用腳踩踏。我也很想知道有關牠頭上的十隻犄角和那另長出的犄角的真義——在這犄角面前有三隻犄角倒下了；這犄角有眼睛，有說大話的口，牠的樣子比牠的同類更大。

那位天使對我說：「你為什麼驚奇呢？我要把這女人和馱著她的那七頭十角獸的奧祕告訴你。你所看見的那獸，先前在而現今不在，並將要從無底坑裡上來，然後走向滅亡。住在地上的人，凡是名字從創世以來沒有被記在生命冊上的，看見那先前在而現今不在，並將要出現的獸時，都會感到驚奇。「帶有智慧的理性就在這裡。那七個頭就是女人所坐的七座山，也就是七個君王。五個已經倒了，一個還在，另一個還沒有到來；他來的時候，必須存留片刻。那先前在而現今不在的獸，自己就是第八個，也是屬於那七個，並且要走向滅亡。你所看見的那十隻角，是十個王，他們還沒有得到王權，然而他們要得到權柄，與那獸一同做王一段時間。

我又看見一片好像混著火的玻璃海；那些勝過了獸和獸像以及牠名字數目的人，都拿著神的豎琴，站在玻璃海上；

那獸被賜予了一張說大話和褻瀆話的口；牠又被賜予了權柄，可以任意行事四十二個月。牠就開口向神說褻瀆的話，褻瀆了他的名和他的居所，褻瀆了那些居住在天上的。

不要讓任何人用任何方法把你們欺騙了；因為那日子來臨以前，必定先有離道反教之事來到，並且那不法之人，就是那滅亡之子也會被顯露出來。他反對一切被稱為神的，或受人敬拜的，他又高抬自己在這一切之上，甚至坐在神的聖所裡宣稱自己是神。

在她的額上寫著一個奧祕的名號：「大巴比倫，地上的淫婦們和可憎之物的母親。」
