Among the dead no one proclaims your name. Who praises you from the grave?

“ What is gained if I am silenced, if I go down to the pit? Will the dust praise you? Will it proclaim your faithfulness?

For the grave cannot praise you, death cannot sing your praise; those who go down to the pit cannot hope for your faithfulness.The living, the living— they praise you, as I am doing today; parents tell their children about your faithfulness.

“ At least there is hope for a tree: If it is cut down, it will sprout again, and its new shoots will not fail.Its roots may grow old in the ground and its stump die in the soil,yet at the scent of water it will bud and put forth shoots like a plant.But a man dies and is laid low; he breathes his last and is no more.As the water of a lake dries up or a riverbed becomes parched and dry,so he lies down and does not rise; till the heavens are no more, people will not awake or be roused from their sleep.

But your dead will live, Lord; their bodies will rise— let those who dwell in the dust wake up and shout for joy— your dew is like the dew of the morning; the earth will give birth to her dead.

As he approached the town gate, a dead person was being carried out— the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the town was with her.When the Lord saw her, his heart went out to her and he said,“ Don’t cry.”Then he went up and touched the bier they were carrying him on, and the bearers stood still. He said,“ Young man, I say to you, get up!”The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother.They were all filled with awe and praised God.“ A great prophet has appeared among us,” they said.“ God has come to help his people.”

It is not the dead who praise the Lord, those who go down to the place of silence;

While Jesus was still speaking, some people came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue leader.“ Your daughter is dead,” they said.“ Why bother the teacher anymore?”Overhearing what they said, Jesus told him,“ Don’t be afraid; just believe.”

in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality.When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true:“ Death has been swallowed up in victory.”“ Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?”The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

The hand of the Lord was on me, and he brought me out by the Spirit of the Lord and set me in the middle of a valley; it was full of bones.He led me back and forth among them, and I saw a great many bones on the floor of the valley, bones that were very dry.He asked me,“ Son of man, can these bones live?” I said,“ Sovereign Lord, you alone know.”Then he said to me,“ Prophesy to these bones and say to them,‘ Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord!This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life.I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the Lord.’”So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone.I looked, and tendons and flesh appeared on them and skin covered them, but there was no breath in them.Then he said to me,“ Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to it,‘ This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Come, breath, from the four winds and breathe into these slain, that they may live.’”So I prophesied as he commanded me, and breath entered them; they came to life and stood up on their feet— a vast army.Then he said to me:“ Son of man, these bones are the people of Israel. They say,‘ Our bones are dried up and our hope is gone; we are cut off.’Therefore prophesy and say to them:‘ This is what the Sovereign Lord says: My people, I am going to open your graves and bring you up from them; I will bring you back to the land of Israel.Then you, my people, will know that I am the Lord, when I open your graves and bring you up from them.I will put my Spirit in you and you will live, and I will settle you in your own land. Then you will know that I the Lord have spoken, and I have done it, declares the Lord.’”

I will not die but live, and will proclaim what the Lord has done.
