吾主施訶譴。孰能不消瘦。

即爾頭上之髮、亦莖莖見數。

蓋座前羔羊將親為之牧、導之引之、以至活水之源；而天主且將親拭其目中之淚也。

吾未成形。主已洞察。未見天日。先註歲月。

盛哉主大德。慈恩永不匱。

此數人者、皆懷抱信德而死、生前未見恩諾之通盤實現、惟高瞻遠矚、延頸舉踵企而迎之。同時復自認人生在世、猶如羇旅他鄉、暫作過客而已。

錫彼收穫樂。償彼耕耘淚。去時皆嗚咽。含淚播種子。來時應怡怡。帶笑刈嘉穗。

游列國。與雜處。矜其寡。賜佑護。誡君民。莫之侮。

吾又見已亡者、無大無小、肅立座前、案卷悉展、另有一卷亦展、即生命冊也。亡者皆各按其卷中所載之行實而處分焉。

僕僕風塵、不遑寧息、時遭河汊之危、盜賊之難、邦人之厄、異域之苦、城市之驚、曠野之困、海洋之險、及偽兄弟之陷害：

斯輩不見容於世、乃穴居野處、遁跡山林、

亞伯漢亦憑信德、心從天主之命、不惜離鄉背井、以覓承許為嗣業之地。方其就道、固茫然不知己之奚適也。
