寧受賢人責。苦口是良藥。莫受惡人諛。蜜中含辛螫。任憑彼作惡。吾禱終不輟。

Let a righteous man strike me— that is a kindness; let him rebuke me— that is oil on my head. My head will not refuse it, for my prayer will still be against the deeds of evildoers.

If a godly person hit me, it would be an act of kindness. If they would correct me, it would be like pouring olive oil on my head. I wouldn’t say no to it. I will always pray against the things that sinful people do.

Let the godly strike me! It will be a kindness! If they correct me, it is soothing medicine. Don’t let me refuse it. But I pray constantly against the wicked and their deeds.

May the righteous strike me with mercy and discipline me; It is oil for the head; My head shall not refuse it, For my prayer is still against their evil deeds.

It is better for a man to hear the rebuke of the wise than to hear the song of fools.

Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted.

Like a gold ring or an ornament of gold is a wise reprover to a listening ear.

For the commandment is a lamp and the teaching a light, and the reproofs of discipline are the way of life,

But when Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned.For before certain men came from James, he was eating with the Gentiles; but when they came he drew back and separated himself, fearing the circumcision party.And the rest of the Jews acted hypocritically along with him, so that even Barnabas was led astray by their hypocrisy.But when I saw that their conduct was not in step with the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas before them all,“ If you, though a Jew, live like a Gentile and not like a Jew, how can you force the Gentiles to live like Jews?”

Strike a scoffer, and the simple will learn prudence; reprove a man of understanding, and he will gain knowledge.

Without counsel plans fail, but with many advisers they succeed.

But as he was speaking, the king said to him,“ Have we made you a royal counselor? Stop! Why should you be struck down?” So the prophet stopped, but said,“ I know that God has determined to destroy you, because you have done this and have not listened to my counsel.”

Better is open rebuke than hidden love.Faithful are the wounds of a friend; profuse are the kisses of an enemy.

my lord shall have no cause of grief or pangs of conscience for having shed blood without cause or for my lord working salvation himself. And when the Lord has dealt well with my lord, then remember your servant.”And David said to Abigail,“ Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, who sent you this day to meet me!Blessed be your discretion, and blessed be you, who have kept me this day from bloodguilt and from working salvation with my own hand!For as surely as the Lord, the God of Israel, lives, who has restrained me from hurting you, unless you had hurried and come to meet me, truly by morning there had not been left to Nabal so much as one male.”

But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,

A fool despises his father’s instruction, but whoever heeds reproof is prudent.

Do not reprove a scoffer, or he will hate you; reprove a wise man, and he will love you.Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning.

Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

Do good to Zion in your good pleasure; build up the walls of Jerusalem;

At that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah and said to him,“ Because you relied on the king of Syria, and did not rely on the Lord your God, the army of the king of Syria has escaped you.Were not the Ethiopians and the Libyans a huge army with very many chariots and horsemen? Yet because you relied on the Lord, he gave them into your hand.For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him. You have done foolishly in this, for from now on you will have wars.”Then Asa was angry with the seer and put him in the stocks in prison, for he was in a rage with him because of this. And Asa inflicted cruelties upon some of the people at the same time.

Do good, O Lord, to those who are good, and to those who are upright in their hearts!

Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.

And I will take your wives before your eyes and give them to your neighbor, and he shall lie with your wives in the sight of this sun.For you did it secretly, but I will do this thing before all Israel and before the sun.’”David said to Nathan,“ I have sinned against the Lord.” And Nathan said to David,“ The Lord also has put away your sin; you shall not die.

May the Lord grant mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my chains,but when he arrived in Rome he searched for me earnestly and found me—may the Lord grant him to find mercy from the Lord on that Day!— and you well know all the service he rendered at Ephesus.
