莫使私欲萌。閑邪存我誠。教我遠群小。不屑嘗其珍。

Do not let my heart be drawn to what is evil so that I take part in wicked deeds along with those who are evildoers; do not let me eat their delicacies.

Don’t let my heart be drawn to what is evil. Don’t let me join with people who do evil. Don’t let me eat their fancy food.

Don’t let me drift toward evil or take part in acts of wickedness. Don’t let me share in the delicacies of those who do wrong.

When you sit down to eat with a ruler, observe carefully what is before you,and put a knife to your throat if you are given to appetite.Do not desire his delicacies, for they are deceptive food.

And there came a voice to him:“ Rise, Peter; kill and eat.”But Peter said,“ By no means, Lord; for I have never eaten anything that is common or unclean.”

Do not eat the bread of a man who is stingy; do not desire his delicacies,for he is like one who is inwardly calculating.“ Eat and drink!” he says to you, but his heart is not with you.You will vomit up the morsels that you have eaten, and waste your pleasant words.

If one of the unbelievers invites you to dinner and you are disposed to go, eat whatever is set before you without raising any question on the ground of conscience.But if someone says to you,“ This has been offered in sacrifice,” then do not eat it, for the sake of the one who informed you, and for the sake of conscience—
