Samson said,“ Let me die with the Philistines!” He pushed hard and the temple collapsed on the rulers and all the people in it. He killed many more people in his death than he had killed during his life.

So now, get back to work! You will not be given straw, but you must still produce your quota of bricks!”The Israelite foremen saw that they were in trouble when they were told,“ You must not reduce the daily quota of your bricks.”

He was still talking to them when the messenger approached and said,“ Look, the LORD is responsible for this disaster! Why should I continue to wait for the LORD to help?”

These double disasters confronted you. But who feels sorry for you? Destruction and devastation, famine and sword. But who consoles you?Your children faint; they lie at the head of every street like an antelope in a snare. They are left in a stupor by the LORD’s anger, by the battle cry of your God.

God does not restrain his anger; under him the helpers of Rahab lie crushed.

Its abundant produce goes to the kings you have placed over us due to our sins. They rule over our bodies and our livestock as they see fit, and we are in great distress!

I will put it into the hand of your tormentors who said to you,‘ Lie down, so we can walk over you.’ You made your back like the ground, and like the street for those who walked over you.”

While the king of Israel was passing by on the city wall, a woman shouted to him,“ Help us, my master, O king!”He replied,“ No, let the LORD help you. How can I help you? The threshing floor and winepress are empty.”

They threw away the foreign gods they owned and worshiped the LORD. Finally the LORD grew tired of seeing Israel suffer so much.The Ammonites assembled and camped in Gilead; the Israelites gathered together and camped in Mizpah.The leaders of Gilead said to one another,“ Who is willing to lead the charge against the Ammonites? He will become the leader of all who live in Gilead!”

And now, what do we have here?” says the LORD.“ Indeed my people have been carried away for nothing, those who rule over them taunt,” says the LORD,“ and my name is constantly slandered all day long.
