for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.

God is working in you. He wants your plans and your acts to fulfill his good purpose.

Who hath saved us, and called[ us] with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency[ is] of God;

So then[ it is] not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.

Do not err, my beloved brethren.Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and[ put it] also in writing, saying,

But this[ shall be] the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

But who[ am] I, and what[ is] my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? for all things[ come] of thee, and of thine own have we given thee.For we[ are] strangers before thee, and sojourners, as[ were] all our fathers: our days on the earth[ are] as a shadow, and[ there is] none abiding.O LORD our God, all this store that we have prepared to build thee an house for thine holy name[ cometh] of thine hand, and[ is] all thine own.I know also, my God, that thou triest the heart, and hast pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of mine heart I have willingly offered all these things: and now have I seen with joy thy people, which are present here, to offer willingly unto thee.O LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, our fathers, keep this for ever in the imagination of the thoughts of the heart of thy people, and prepare their heart unto thee:

The king’s heart[ is] in the hand of the LORD,[ as] the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.

It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.

LORD, thou wilt ordain peace for us: for thou also hast wrought all our works in us.

Incline not my heart to[ any] evil thing, to practise wicked works with men that work iniquity: and let me not eat of their dainties.

Then the king said unto me, For what dost thou make request? So I prayed to the God of heaven.

And the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and turned unto the Lord.

But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Thy people[ shall be] willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth.

Blessed[ be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
