There was no water for the people to drink at that place, so they rebelled against Moses and Aaron.

Now there was no water for the community, and the people gathered in opposition to Moses and Aaron.

The people didn’t have any water. So they gathered together to oppose Moses and Aaron.

Meanwhile, Korah had stirred up the entire community against Moses and Aaron, and they all gathered at the Tabernacle entrance. Then the glorious presence of the Lord appeared to the whole community,

As the community gathered to protest against Moses and Aaron, they turned toward the Tabernacle and saw that the cloud had covered it, and the glorious presence of the Lord appeared.

“ I have heard the Israelites’ complaints. Now tell them,‘ In the evening you will have meat to eat, and in the morning you will have all the bread you want. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God.’”

Soon the people began to complain about their hardship, and the Lord heard everything they said. Then the Lord’s anger blazed against them, and he sent a fire to rage among them, and he destroyed some of the people in the outskirts of the camp.Then the people screamed to Moses for help, and when he prayed to the Lord, the fire stopped.After that, the area was known as Taberah( which means“ the place of burning”), because fire from the Lord had burned among them there.Then the foreign rabble who were traveling with the Israelites began to crave the good things of Egypt. And the people of Israel also began to complain.“ Oh, for some meat!” they exclaimed.“ We remember the fish we used to eat for free in Egypt. And we had all the cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions, and garlic we wanted.But now our appetites are gone. All we ever see is this manna!”

When they came to the oasis of Marah, the water was too bitter to drink. So they called the place Marah( which means“ bitter”).Then the people complained and turned against Moses.“ What are we going to drink?” they demanded.

And don’t grumble as some of them did, and then were destroyed by the angel of death.These things happened to them as examples for us. They were written down to warn us who live at the end of the age.

They united against Moses and Aaron and said,“ You have gone too far! The whole community of Israel has been set apart by the Lord, and he is with all of us. What right do you have to act as though you are greater than the rest of the Lord’s people?”

and they began to speak against God and Moses.“ Why have you brought us out of Egypt to die here in the wilderness?” they complained.“ There is nothing to eat here and nothing to drink. And we hate this horrible manna!”

At the Lord’s command, the whole community of Israel left the wilderness of Sin and moved from place to place. Eventually they camped at Rephidim, but there was no water there for the people to drink.So once more the people complained against Moses.“ Give us water to drink!” they demanded.“ Quiet!” Moses replied.“ Why are you complaining against me? And why are you testing the Lord?”But tormented by thirst, they continued to argue with Moses.“ Why did you bring us out of Egypt? Are you trying to kill us, our children, and our livestock with thirst?”Then Moses cried out to the Lord,“ What should I do with these people? They are ready to stone me!”

There, too, the whole community of Israel complained about Moses and Aaron.

In the morning you will see the glory of the Lord, because he has heard your complaints, which are against him, not against us. What have we done that you should complain about us?”
