not one of them will ever see the land I promised on oath to their ancestors. No one who has treated me with contempt will ever see it.

So not even one of them will ever see the land I promised to give to their people of long ago. The person who has not respected me will never see it.

「凡由埃及上來、從二十歲和以上的人、斷不得以看見我對亞伯拉罕、以撒、雅各起誓應許的土地，因為他們沒有滿心滿懷地跟從我。

但這些人中間沒有一個人是摩西和祭司亞倫、在西乃曠野點閱以色列人所點閱過的。

我並且我在曠野也曾向他們舉手起了誓、必不領他們進我所賜給他們、流奶與蜜之地，就是在列邦中最華美的；

「這壞世代的人、連一個也不得以看見我所起誓應許給你們列祖的美好之地；惟有耶孚尼的兒子迦勒、他可以看見；我並且要將他所踏過的地賜給他和他的子孫，因為他滿心滿懷地跟從我永恆主。」因了你們的緣故永恆主也向我發怒說：「你必不得以進那裏去；但是嫩的兒子約書亞、那站在你面前伺候的、他就可以進那裏去；你要鼓勵他剛強，因為是他要使以色列人承受那地以為業。還有你們的婦女小孩、你們所說要被擄掠的、和你們的兒女、今日還不知好壞的，他們這些人才可以進那裏去；我賜那地是要給他們；他們才能取得那地以為業。至於你們呢、你們可要轉身，按到蘆葦海的路向往前行到曠野去。」『那時你們回答我說：「我們犯罪得罪了永恆主了；如今我們要照永恆主我們的上帝一切所吩咐的上去打仗。」於是你們各人裝束着戰器，輕舉妄動上山地去了。但是永恆主對我說：「你對他們說：不要上去、也不要打仗，因為我不在你們中間，免得你們在仇敵面前被擊敗。」我就告訴了你們，你們卻不聽從，反而違背了永恆主所吩咐的，擅自上山地去。住那山地的亞摩利人就出來對你們接戰，像蜂擁一般追趕你們，在西珥擊潰了你們，直到何珥瑪。你們便回來，在永恆主面前哭着；永恆主卻不聽你們的聲音，不側耳聽你們。

上帝四十年厭惡誰呢？豈不是那些犯了罪、屍首倒在曠野的人麼？他向誰起誓說、他們必不得以進入他的安息呢？豈不是向那些硬不信從的人是向誰呢？

因此我發義怒地起誓說：他們斷不得以進我所賜的安居地。

因此他對他們舉了手起誓，必使他們倒斃於曠野，

到底還是我們這些相信的人竟得進入安息呢；正如上帝所說的：『我帶着怒氣起誓說，他們斷不得以進入我的安息』。其實上帝之工、從世界創立以來就已作完了。

你使他們的子孫眾多、像天上的星；你將他們帶到這地、就是你曾對他們列祖所說到他們要進來取得以為業的。
