窺探那地的人之中、嫩的兒子約書亞和耶孚尼的兒子迦勒、就撕裂衣服，對以色列人全會眾說：『我們所經過而窺探的地、是極其美好之地。永恆主若喜愛我們，他就會領我們進那地、把地賜給我們、就是流奶與蜜之地。只是你們不可背叛永恆主，也不要怕那地的人民，因為他們是我們所可喫的；並且蔭庇他們的已經離開他們，而永恆主卻和我們同在；不要怕他們。』

既然如此，對這些事我們可怎麼說呢？上帝若為我們，誰能敵我們呢？

是靠着上帝、我們才能奮勇而行的；踐踏我們敵人的就是他。

靠着那給我能力的、我總有力量應付萬事。

列國圍繞着我；我靠永恆主的名將他們割掉；他們環繞着我，圍困着我；我靠永恆主的名將他們割掉；

那時猶大人挨近前來、在吉甲見約書亞，有基尼洗人耶孚尼的兒子迦勒對約書亞說：『永恆主在加低斯巴尼亞對神人摩西所說關於我和你的話、你是知道的。永恆主的僕人摩西從加低斯巴尼亞打發我來偵探這地，那時我四十歲；我盡心裏所有的向他報告。然而同我上去的那些族弟兄卻使人民膽戰心驚；而我則滿心滿懷跟從永恆主我的上帝。

你不要懼怕，因為是我與你同在；不要彷徨張望，因為是我做你的上帝；我必堅固你，我一定幫助你；一定用我義氣的右手扶持你。看吧，一切向你發怒的都必失望狼狽；那些跟你相爭的人都必如同無有，歸於滅亡，那些跟你爭競的人你就尋找他們，也找不着；那些跟你爭戰的人都必如同無有，如同虛無。因為是我、永恆主你的上帝、在攙扶着你的右手，是我對你說：『不要懼怕，我必幫助你』。不要懼怕哦！蟲子雅各啊！蛆蟲以色列啊！是我要幫助你，永恆主發神諭說；贖回你者、是以色列的聖者。看吧，我必使你成為打穀器，又新、又尖銳、又有雙刃齒；你必將山嶺打碎，而壓成粉，使岡陵如同糠粃。你必簸揚它們，風必帶走，旋風必颳散；但你卻要以永恆主為喜樂，以以色列之聖者為誇耀。

不；在這一切事上、我們藉着那愛了我們的、倒是得勝有餘了。

因着信、他們制勝了列國，執行了公義政治，得了所應許的，堵住了獅子的口，

永恆主是我的光，是拯救我的；我還怕誰呢？永恆主是我性命的逃難所；我還懼怕誰呢？那作壞事的人、我的敵人、我的仇敵、走近前來攻擊我，要喫我肉的時候，他們就絆跌仆倒。
