The Amalekites dwell in the land of the Negeb. The Hittites, the Jebusites, and the Amorites dwell in the hill country. And the Canaanites dwell by the sea, and along the Jordan.”

The Amalekites live in the Negev, and the Hittites, Jebusites, and Amorites live in the hill country. The Canaanites live along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea and along the Jordan Valley.”

The Amalekites are living in the land of the Negev; the Hethites, Jebusites, and Amorites live in the hill country; and the Canaanites live by the sea and along the Jordan.”

掃羅奮勇，擊打亞瑪力人，拯救了以色列人脫離搶掠他們的人的手。

亞捫的地界和亞瑪力、非利士同推羅的居民；

現在你要去擊打亞瑪力，將他們所有的盡行毁滅歸神，不要顧惜他們；無論是男人或女人、是孩童或喫奶的、是牛或羊、是駱駝或驢、都要殺死。」』於是掃羅呼召人民在提拉因，點閱他們，共有步兵二十萬，另有猶大人一萬。掃羅到了亞瑪力城，在谿谷中設下埋伏。掃羅對基尼人說：『去吧，你們離開亞瑪力人中間、下去吧，恐怕我將你們和亞瑪力人一齊收拾掉；因為以色列人從埃及上來的時候、你們曾經恩待他們。』於是基尼人離開亞瑪力中間去了。掃羅擊打了亞瑪力人，從哈腓拉直到埃及東面的書珥。活活捉住亞瑪力王亞甲，把亞瑪力的眾民都用刀殺滅歸神。掃羅和眾民顧惜亞甲，也顧惜最好的羊、牛、就是那肥美的、又顧惜羊羔、以及一切美物，不情願盡行毁滅歸神；只有人所賤視鄙棄的一切羣畜、他們才殺滅歸神。

我曾經說：我要將你們從埃及的困苦中領出來，上迦南人、赫人、亞摩利人、比利洗人、希未人、耶布斯人之地，流奶與蜜之地。』」

於是亞瑪力人和迦南人、住在那山地上的、就下來、擊敗他們，粉碎他們、直到何珥瑪。

巴蘭觀看着亞瑪力，便發表言論歌來、說：『亞瑪力原是列國之首，但它的終局必至於滅亡。』

然後轉到安密巴，就是加低斯，擊毁了亞瑪力人的各鄉間，又擊敗了住在哈洗遜他瑪的亞摩利人。

那時亞瑪力人來在利非訂、同以色列人交戰。摩西對約書亞說：『你為我們揀選人、出去和亞瑪力人交戰；明天我要站在山岡上，手裏拿着上帝的手杖。』於是約書亞照摩西對他所說的去行，和亞瑪力人交戰；摩西、亞倫跟戶珥都上了山岡。儘摩西將手舉起的時候，以色列人就得勝；儘他讓手歇息的時候，亞瑪力人就得勝。但摩西的兩手一發沉，他們就拿石頭、放在他下面、讓他坐在那上頭；亞倫跟戶珥扶着摩西的兩手，一個在這邊，一個在那邊，摩西的兩手就穩住，直到日落的時候。約書亞用刀砍倒了亞瑪力和他的人民。永恆主對摩西說：『我要將亞瑪力這名號從天下全塗抹掉：你要將這話寫在卷冊上做備忘錄，又念給約書亞聽。』摩西築了一座祭壇，起名叫「耶和華尼西」，說：『我舉手指着永恆主的寶座來起誓：永恆主必世世代代跟亞瑪力人爭戰。』

每逢以色列人播種之後，米甸人總上來，亞瑪力人和東方人也都上來、攻打他們，

如今亞瑪力人和迦南人既住在山谷中，明天你們要轉身，按到蘆葦海的路向往前行、到曠野去。』

第三天大衛和跟隨的人到了洗革拉，亞瑪力人早已侵犯了南地和洗革拉了。他們擊破了洗革拉，又放火燒城；
