不過住在那地的人民很壯健、城邑也有堡壘、又極大；我們也看見亞衲人的後代在那裏。

然而住那地的民强壮，城邑也坚固宽大，并且我们在那里看见了亚衲族的人。

但是住那地的百姓很强悍，城镇又大又坚固，我们也在那里看见了亚衲族人。

『以色列啊、你要聽；你今日正要過約但河、進去趕出比你大比你強的列國人、去取得那些又大又有堡壘、高得頂天的城邑。那族之民又大又高，是亞衲人，你所知道、所聽見過的、人怎樣指着他們而說：「在亞衲人面前、誰能站立得住呢？」

我們上哪裏去呢？我們的族弟兄使我們膽戰心驚、說：『那地的人民比我們又大又高；他們的城邑又大又堅固，高得頂天；並且我們還看見亞衲人在那裏呢。』」

在那裏我們看見了巨人、亞衲人的子孫、屬於巨人一種的；據我們看、我們正如蚱蜢一樣；據他們看、我們也正如蚱蜢。

先前有以米人住在那裏，這族之民又大、又多、又高，像亞衲人一樣。這以米人、也像亞衲人被算為利乏音人，但摩押人卻稱他們為以米人。

迦勒就從那裏把亞衲人的三個兒子、示篩、亞希幔、撻買、趕出；他們是亞衲人的後代。

這些城是堡壘城，有高牆，有門有閂；此外還有很多鄉下人的市集。

在以色列人的地、沒有一個亞衲人留下來；只在迦薩、迦特、和亞實突有剩下的。

這族之民又大、又多、又高、像亞衲人一樣；永恆主從亞捫人面前消滅他們，把他們趕出，亞捫人便接替他們住在那裏；

他們取道南地上去，來到希伯崙；在那裏有亞衲人的後代亞希幔、示篩、撻買。（這希伯崙之建造比埃及的鎖安還早七年。）他們來到以實各谷；從那裏砍了一根枝子，上頭有一掛葡萄，須要兩個人用杠抬着。他們還帶了些石榴和無花果來。

以色列人照摩西所說過的、將希伯崙給了迦勒；迦勒就從那裏把亞衲人的子孫三族系趕出。
