Where now is the lions’ den, the place where they fed their young, where the lion and lioness went, and the cubs, with nothing to fear?

Assyria is like a lion. Where is the lions’ den now? Where did they feed their cubs? Where did all the lions go? In their den they had nothing to fear.

Where is the lions’ den, the feeding place of the young lions, where the lion and lioness went, where his cubs were, with none to disturb?

Where now is that great Nineveh, that den filled with young lions? It was a place where people— like lions and their cubs— walked freely and without fear.

Where is the lions’ lair, or the feeding ground of the young lions, where the lion and lioness prowled, and the lion’s cub, with nothing to frighten them away?

Where is the den of the lions And the feeding place of the young lions, Where the lion, lioness, and lion’s cub went With nothing to disturb them?

他们的吼叫像母狮，他们的咆哮如幼狮；他们咆哮，攫取猎物，把它叼去，无人援救。

幼狮都向他咆哮，大声吼叫，使他的地荒凉，城中破毁，无人居住。

狮子的咆哮，猛狮的吼声，尽都止息，壮狮的牙齿也都断掉。公狮因缺乏猎物而死亡，母狮之子也被分散。

以色列是被赶散的羊，它被狮子赶逐。先是亚述王把它吞灭，现在巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒要咬碎它的骨头。

说：‘你的母亲是什么？是狮子群中的母狮，它卧在少壮狮子群中，养育它的小狮子。它养大其中一只小狮子，这幼狮成了一只少壮的狮子，学会了撕碎猎物，把人吃掉。列国听见了，就把它困在他们的坑中；他们用钩子把它带到埃及地去。母狮见自己所等候的落空了，所希望的幻灭了，就从它的小狮子中另取出一只，使它成为少壮的狮子。它在狮子群中行走；它已成了一只少壮的狮子，它学会了撕碎猎物，把人吃掉。它拆毁了他们的城堡，使他们的城市荒凉；因它吼叫的声音，地和其中所充满的都惊恐。于是四围的列国从各地来攻击它，把他们的网撒在它身上，把它困在他们的坑中。

看哪！狮子怎样从约旦河边的丛林走上来，攻击常绿的牧场，照样，我必在眨眼之间把巴比伦赶走，使它离开这地；谁蒙拣选，我就派谁治理这地。谁能和我相比呢？谁可以把我传来审讯呢？哪一个牧人能在我面前站立得住呢？”

这流人血的城，有祸了！全城欺诈，充满劫掠；抢夺的事总不止息。

犹大是只小狮子；我儿啊，你猎取了食物就上到洞穴去。他屈身伏卧，好像公狮，又像母狮，谁敢惊动他呢？

因为耶和华对我这样说：“狮子和少壮狮子怎样因捕获猎物而咆哮，虽然召集了许多的牧人来攻击它们，它们并不因他们的声音而惊慌，也不因他们的喧嚷而蹲伏；照样，万军之耶和华必降临在锡安山和它的冈陵上争战。”

狮子从它的密林中上来了，毁坏列国的已经动身，从他的本处出发，为要使你的地荒凉，使你的城市破毁，无人居住。

城中的领袖都是咆哮的狮子，城中的审判官是夜间的豺狼，什么都不留到早晨。
