顧諸徒聞言、猶以為無稽之談、未予置信、

二人趨告他徒、亦不之信。後十一徒同席而食、耶穌又顯現、痛責其信德之薄弱、及心靈之冥頑、以其未信復活後之見證也。

不見遺體、回言、親見天神報耶穌復活、同道諸友亦有往視者、所見盡符婦言、第未睹耶穌。』耶穌謂之曰：『愚人哉！何爾心之冥頑、而不信歷來先知之所言乎？基督不當先受苦難、而躋於光榮乎？』於是始自摩西以至歷代先知、凡經中之有關於己者、悉為詳釋。將抵村、耶穌若欲遠行、二人固留曰：『時已向晚、日將西沉、爰請偕我宿也。』乃相與入室、餐時、耶穌持餅祝謝、剖而授之、二人心目頓啟、方識是主。瞬息主杳、二人乃相語曰：『途中與我共話、闡釋經言之時、吾儕不曾覺中心如沸乎？』乃立赴耶路撒冷、值十二宗徒與同人聚處、亦云主確已復活、曾現於西門、二人乃為具述途中所遇、及授餅時如何認主事。

耶穌喟然嘆曰：『無信之世代乎！我之偕爾、當至何時？我之忍爾、當至何時？且攜汝子前來。』
