The best of them is like a brier, the most upright worse than a thorn hedge. The day God visits you has come, the day your watchmen sound the alarm. Now is the time of your confusion.

The best of these people are as harmful as thorns. The most honest of them are even worse. God has come to punish you. The time your prophets warned you about has come. Panic has taken hold of you.

Even the best of them is like a brier; the most honest is as dangerous as a hedge of thorns. But your judgment day is coming swiftly now. Your time of punishment is here, a time of confusion.

因为主万军之耶和华使“异象谷”有惊恐、践踏、混乱的日子：城墙被拆毁，哀声传到山上。

“人子啊！至于你，虽然荆棘和蒺藜在你周围，你又住在蝎子群中，你不要怕他们，也不要怕他们讲的话。他们原是叛逆的民族，你总不要怕他们讲的话，在他们面前，也不要惊惶。

流氓却像荆棘被丢弃，人不敢用手拿它。人要碰它，必须带备铁器和枪杆，他们要在原地被火彻底烧毁。”

到降罚的日子，有灾祸从远方来到，那时你们要怎样行呢？你们可以向谁逃奔求助呢？你们可以把你们的财宝撇在哪里呢？

因此，你要对他们说：主耶和华这样说：‘我必使这一句俗语不再流行，在以色列中，人必不再引用这句俗语。’你却要对他们说：‘日子临近了，所有异象都必应验。’从此，在以色列家中必不再有虚假的异象和奉承的占卜。

耶和华说：‘他们行了可憎的事，本应觉得羞愧，可是他们一点羞愧都没有，恬不知耻。因此他们必仆倒在倒下的人中间；我惩罚他们的时候，他们必倒下来。

松树要长起来代替荆棘，番石榴要长起来代替蒺藜。这要为耶和华留名，作永远不能废掉的记号。”

偶像都是虚无的，是荒谬可笑的作品；到了讨罪的时候，它们必被除灭。

“日月星辰将有异兆；在地上，各国也要因着海洋波涛的咆哮而困苦不安。

惩罚的日子临近，报应的时候来到，以色列必定知道，因着你们众多的罪孽和深仇大恨，先知被看为愚昧，受灵感动的人被当作疯子。先知与神一同作以法莲的守望者，在他所行的一切路上，都满有捕鸟人的网罗，在他神的家中只有仇恨。

耶和华说：“阿摩司，你看见什么？”我回答：“一篮夏天的果子。”他跟着对我说：“我民以色列的结局到了，我不再放过他们。

他们像缠结着的荆棘，像喝醉了的酒徒，又像枯干的禾秸，全都被吞灭了。

但如果这块地长出荆棘和蒺藜来，就被废弃，近于咒诅，结局就是焚烧。
