Yet I was shown mercy because I acted ignorantly in unbelief;and the grace of our Lord was more than abundant, with the faith and love which are found in Christ Jesus.It is a trustworthy statement, deserving full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, among whom I am foremost.Yet for this reason I found mercy, so that in me as the foremost sinner Jesus Christ might demonstrate His perfect patience as an example for those who would believe in Him for eternal life.

I have not come to call the righteous to repentance, but sinners.”

To do righteousness and justice Is preferred by the Lord more than sacrifice.

The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not willing for any to perish, but for all to come to repentance.

With what shall I come to the Lord And bow myself before the God on high? Shall I come to Him with burnt offerings, With yearling calves?Does the Lord take pleasure in thousands of rams, In ten thousand rivers of oil? Shall I give Him my firstborn for my wrongdoings, The fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?He has told you, mortal one, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God?

“ But what do you think? A man had two sons, and he came to the first and said,‘ Son, go work today in the vineyard.’But he replied,‘ I do not want to.’ Yet afterward he regretted it and went.And the man came to his second son and said the same thing; and he replied,‘ I will, sir’; and yet he did not go.Which of the two did the will of his father?” They* said,“ The first.” Jesus* said to them,“ Truly I say to you that the tax collectors and prostitutes will get into the kingdom of God before you.For John came to you in the way of righteousness and you did not believe him; but the tax collectors and prostitutes did believe him; and you, seeing this, did not even have second thoughts afterward so as to believe him.

When they heard this, they quieted down and glorified God, saying,“ Well then, God has also granted to the Gentiles the repentance that leads to life.”

Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and restraint and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance?But because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God,who will repay each person according to his deeds:

“ See that you do not look down on one of these little ones; for I say to you that their angels in heaven continually see the face of My Father who is in heaven.

Seek the Lord while He may be found; Call upon Him while He is near.Let the wicked abandon his way, And the unrighteous person his thoughts; And let him return to the Lord, And He will have compassion on him, And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon.

He is the one whom God exalted to His right hand as a Prince and a Savior, to grant repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who have been sanctified by faith in Me.’“ For that reason, King Agrippa, I did not prove disobedient to the heavenly vision,but continually proclaimed to those in Damascus first, and in Jerusalem, and then all the region of Judea, and even to the Gentiles, that they are to repent and turn to God, performing deeds consistent with repentance.

So having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now proclaiming to mankind that all people everywhere are to repent,because He has set a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all people by raising Him from the dead.”

and that repentance for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem.

And so He told them this parable, saying,“ What man among you, if he has a hundred sheep and has lost one of them, does not leave the other ninety nine in the open pasture and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it?And when he has found it, he puts it on his shoulders, rejoicing.And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them,‘ Rejoice with me, because I have found my sheep that was lost!’I tell you that in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety nine righteous people who have no need of repentance.“ Or what woman, if she has ten silver coins and loses one coin, does not light a lamp and sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it?And when she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbors, saying,‘ Rejoice with me, because I have found the coin which I had lost!’In the same way, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

Peter said to them,“ Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

with gentleness correcting those who are in opposition, if perhaps God may grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth,and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, having been held captive by him to do his will.

Therefore produce fruit consistent with repentance;

solemnly testifying to both Jews and Greeks of repentance toward God and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Then He began to reprimand the cities in which most of His miracles were done, because they did not repent.“ Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that occurred in you had occurred in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.

But regarding the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was spoken to you by God:‘ I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not the God of the dead, but of the living.”

And He answered and said,“ Have you not read that He who created them from the beginning made them male and female,

Or have you not read in the Law that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple violate the Sabbath, and yet are innocent?

Jesus answered them,“ Has it not been written in your Law:‘ I said, you are gods’?

And He said to him,“ What is written in the Law? How does it read to you?”
