可是他裡面沒有根，只是暫時的；一旦為道遭遇患難，受到迫害，就立刻跌倒了。

於是王對侍從說：‘把他的手和腳都綁起來，丟到外面的黑暗裡，在那裡必要哀哭切齒。’

耶穌轉過來對彼得說：“撒但！退到我後面去！你是絆腳石，因為你不思念神的事，只思念人的事。”

不可因食物的緣故拆毀神的工作。一切都是潔淨的，但人若因食物絆倒弟兄，對他來說，這就是惡事了。無論是吃肉，是喝酒，或是甚麼使你的弟兄跌倒的事，一律不要作才好。

所以，如果食物使我的弟兄跌倒，我就永遠不再吃肉，免得使我的弟兄跌倒了。

弟兄們，如果我仍舊傳割禮，我為甚麼還受迫害呢？若是這樣，十字架絆倒人的地方就沒有了。
