故應將一切卑污之心事、置諸死地，凡淫亂、卑污、邪情、惡慾、貪孌、莫非崇拜偶像之變相、

爾如從欲、取死之道也。存神去欲、得生之道也。

基督在肉體上既備受苦難、則爾等亦應毅然抱此宏願。蓋肉體受苦、則與罪絕緣、不復徇人欲、惟循天主聖意、以度餘生。夫過去之日、與世俗同流合污、放縱恣肆、沈湎酒色、崇拜偶像、不已足乎？

凡屬於基督者皆已將其肉體及一切情慾同釘於十字架。

應知吾人之故我、已與之同釘於十字架上；於是罪孽之身、已蕩然毀滅、而吾人不復為罪孽之奴矣。

予且痛鞭吾身、使之馴伏、蓋恐傳道於人而己遭擯棄也。

倘爾一手一足、引爾於惡、當斫而棄之；與其手足雙全而委於無盡之火、曷若殘跛而入永生之為愈乎？倘爾之一目、引爾於惡、當抉而棄之；與其具雙目而投入火獄、曷若具隻眼而獲永生之為愈乎？

蓋欲自保其生者、反將失之、惟為予之故、而舍其生者、克保其生。人即富有天下、而喪亡其真我、亦有何益？

人雖富有天下、苟失其生、亦有何益？

夫人雖富有天下、而自喪其靈。何益之有？更將何以贖其靈乎？

吾乃語爾、凡忿怒其兄弟者受判；詈兄弟曰「蠢才」者、難免讞院之罰；曰「匪類」者、難免地獄之火。

嗟爾虺蝮之種將何以逃於地獄之刑乎？

蓋人有生而閹者、有被人閹者、有為天國而自閹者；惟堪受者始克受焉。』

哀哉爾經生與法利塞人、虛偽之徒也、蓋爾周行海陸、招人入教、既入、則引之為地獄子、較爾猶惡。

彼僅能殺身而不能滅靈者、不足懼也。惟能兼滅身靈於冥獄中者、斯可畏已。

予今告爾、孰當畏者、既殺其身、而又能投之於地獄者、斯足畏焉。予勸爾畏之。
