二者孰遵父旨乎、曰、長子、耶穌曰、我誠語汝、稅吏娼妓、先爾入上帝國矣、

爾意何如、二者、孰遵父旨乎、曰、長子、耶穌曰、我誠告爾、稅吏娼妓、先爾入上帝國矣、

此二者、誰遵父之旨、對曰、長子、耶穌曰、我誠告爾、稅吏與妓女必先爾入天主之國、

二者孰孝？』對曰：『長子。』耶穌曰：『吾實語爾、稅吏娼妓、將先爾曹入天主國。

“ Which of the two did what his father wanted?”“ The first,” they answered. Jesus said to them,“ Truly I tell you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God ahead of you.

And behold, a woman in the city who was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at the table in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster flask of fragrant oil,and stood at His feet behind Him weeping; and she began to wash His feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head; and she kissed His feet and anointed them with the fragrant oil.Now when the Pharisee who had invited Him saw this, he spoke to himself, saying,“ This man, if He were a prophet, would know who and what manner of woman this is who is touching Him, for she is a sinner.”And Jesus answered and said to him,“ Simon, I have something to say to you.” So he said,“ Teacher, say it.”“ There was a certain creditor who had two debtors. One owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty.And when they had nothing with which to repay, he freely forgave them both. Tell Me, therefore, which of them will love him more?”Simon answered and said,“ I suppose the one whom he forgave more.” And He said to him,“ You have rightly judged.”Then He turned to the woman and said to Simon,“ Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave Me no water for My feet, but she has washed My feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head.You gave Me no kiss, but this woman has not ceased to kiss My feet since the time I came in.You did not anoint My head with oil, but this woman has anointed My feet with fragrant oil.Therefore I say to you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little.”Then He said to her,“ Your sins are forgiven.”And those who sat at the table with Him began to say to themselves,“ Who is this who even forgives sins?”Then He said to the woman,“ Your faith has saved you. Go in peace.”

And when all the people heard Him, even the tax collectors justified God, having been baptized with the baptism of John.

The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more,

Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

although I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man; but I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant, with faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.However, for this reason I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show all longsuffering, as a pattern to those who are going to believe on Him for everlasting life.

What shall we say then? That Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness of faith;but Israel, pursuing the law of righteousness, has not attained to the law of righteousness.Why? Because they did not seek it by faith, but as it were, by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumbling stone.As it is written:“ Behold, I lay in Zion a stumbling stone and rock of offense, And whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”

and said,“ Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.

As Jesus passed on from there, He saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax office. And He said to him,“ Follow Me.” So he arose and followed Him.

And he said to him,‘ Out of your own mouth I will judge you, you wicked servant. You knew that I was an austere man, collecting what I did not deposit and reaping what I did not sow.

Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

Then all the tax collectors and the sinners drew near to Him to hear Him.And the Pharisees and scribes complained, saying,“ This Man receives sinners and eats with them.”

Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent,

“ Not everyone who says to Me,‘ Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.

And Jesus said to him,“ Today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham;for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

So the last will be first, and the first last. For many are called, but few chosen.”

Say to them:‘ As I live,’ says the Lord GOD,‘ I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why should you die, O house of Israel?’

For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother.”

So David’s anger was greatly aroused against the man, and he said to Nathan,“ As the Lord lives, the man who has done this shall surely die!And he shall restore fourfold for the lamb, because he did this thing and because he had no pity.”Then Nathan said to David,“ You are the man! Thus says the Lord God of Israel:‘ I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you from the hand of Saul.

“ And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward.

Your own mouth condemns you, and not I; Yes, your own lips testify against you.

For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.
