Then he came to the second and said likewise. And he answered and said,‘ I go, sir,’ but he did not go.

又走上前去對老二也這樣說；他回答說，「我不願意」；後來後悔，去了。

父親前來對小兒子也說同樣的話。「小兒子回答說：『主啊，我去。』可是他沒有去。

謂其仲子亦如之、對曰、主諾、既而不往、

命其次子亦如之、對曰、主、諾、既而不果往、

又就次子、亦如此言、對曰、主、我往、而終不往、

諭次子亦往、次子曰：「大人、我往。」然竟未往也。

And the man came to his second son and said the same thing; and he replied,‘ I will, sir’; and yet he did not go.

And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not.

They profess to know God, but in works they deny Him, being abominable, disobedient, and disqualified for every good work.

So they come to you as people do, they sit before you as My people, and they hear your words, but they do not do them; for with their mouth they show much love, but their hearts pursue their own gain.

Therefore whatever they tell you to observe, that observe and do, but do not do according to their works; for they say, and do not do.

Indeed you are called a Jew, and rest on the law, and make your boast in God,and know His will, and approve the things that are excellent, being instructed out of the law,and are confident that you yourself are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness,an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, having the form of knowledge and truth in the law.You, therefore, who teach another, do you not teach yourself? You who preach that a man should not steal, do you steal?You who say,“ Do not commit adultery,” do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples?You who make your boast in the law, do you dishonor God through breaking the law?For“ the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you,” as it is written.For circumcision is indeed profitable if you keep the law; but if you are a breaker of the law, your circumcision has become uncircumcision.
