有丈夫的女人，丈夫還活着，她是被法律束縛着、去跟着丈夫的；丈夫若死去，她就得解放、脫離了丈夫律了。

所以上帝所配偶的，人不可分開。』

婚姻在眾人中間應當受尊重；婚床也應當不染污；因為嫖妓或做男倡的和行淫的人、上帝必判罰。

照樣子，做丈夫的也應該愛自己的妻子，如同愛自己的身體。愛自己妻子的、便是愛自己。

對已結婚的、我也有所囑咐（其實不是我，乃是主），妻子不要離開丈夫；縱使已經離開了，就該安於不嫁，否則要跟丈夫復和；丈夫呢、也不要離棄妻子。對其餘的人呢、是我說，不是主說的：若有弟兄有不信主的妻子，而妻子又贊同和他同住，他就不要離棄妻子。一個婦人有不信主之丈夫的，這人又贊同和他同住，她就不要離棄丈夫。因為不信主的男人因着妻子就聖別了；不信主的婦人因着弟兄也聖別了。不然，你們的兒女就不潔淨了；其實卻是聖潔的。

她捨棄幼年的配偶，忘了上帝的盟約。

你們還問說：『為甚麼呢？』那是因為永恆主在你和你幼年所娶的妻之間作證婚者啊：她是你的配偶，是你盟約之妻，你卻對她不忠實。
