一個已婚的婦人，在丈夫活著的時候，她是受律法約束歸屬丈夫；丈夫若死了，她就脫離丈夫在律法上的約束。

所以神所配合的，人不可分開。”

人人都應該尊重婚姻，婚床也不要玷污，因為神一定審判淫亂的和姦淫的人。

丈夫也應當這樣愛妻子，好像愛自己的身體一樣。愛妻子的，就是愛自己了。

我要吩咐已婚的人（其實不是我，而是主吩咐的），妻子不可離開丈夫。如果離開了，就不可再嫁，不然，就要跟丈夫復合。丈夫也不可離棄妻子。我要對其餘的人說（是我說的，不是主說的），倘若某弟兄有不信的妻子，而她也情願和他住在一起，他就不要離棄她。如果妻子有不信的丈夫，而他也情願和她住在一起，她也不要離棄丈夫。因為不信的丈夫因著妻子成為聖潔，不信的妻子也因著那個弟兄成為聖潔了。不然，你們的兒女就是不潔淨的，但現在他們都是聖潔的了。

她離棄年輕時的配偶，忘記了神的約；

你們還問：“為甚麼呢？”因為耶和華在你和你年輕時所娶的妻子中間作證；她是你的伴侶，是你立約的妻子，你竟對她不忠！
