Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to stumble! Such things must come, but woe to the person through whom they come!

How terrible it will be for the world because of the things that cause people to sin! Things like that must come. But how terrible for the person who causes them!

“ Woe to the world for temptations to sin! For it is necessary that temptations come, but woe to the one by whom the temptation comes!

“ What sorrow awaits the world, because it tempts people to sin. Temptations are inevitable, but what sorrow awaits the person who does the tempting.

Woe to the world because of offenses. For offenses will inevitably come, but woe to that person by whom the offense comes.

“ Woe to the world because of its stumbling blocks! For it is inevitable that stumbling blocks come; but woe to the person through whom the stumbling block comes!

And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.

Thou that makest thy boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonourest thou God?For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written.

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;And they shall turn away[ their] ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds[ they are] without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.

[ To be] discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.For some are already turned aside after Satan.

And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not troubled: for[ such things] must needs be; but the end[ shall] not[ be] yet.

Howbeit, because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme, the child also[ that is] born unto thee shall surely die.
