She replied,“ That’s true, Lord, but even dogs are allowed to eat the scraps that fall beneath their masters’ table.”

妇人说：“主啊，不错，可是小狗也吃它主人桌上掉下来的碎屑。”

妇人说：“主啊，不错，可是小狗也吃它主人桌上掉下来的碎屑。”

妇人说：“主啊，不错，可是狗也吃主人饭桌上掉下来的碎渣呀！”

她说：“主啊，是的，不过小狗也吃主人桌子上掉下来的碎渣。”

妇人说：“是的，主啊！不过连小狗也吃得到主人桌子上掉下来的碎渣！”

婦人說：「主啊，不錯；但是狗也吃牠主人桌子上掉下來的碎渣兒。」

婦人說：「主啊，不錯，可是小狗也吃牠主人桌上掉下來的碎屑。」

婦人說：「主啊，不錯，可是小狗也吃牠主人桌上掉下來的碎屑。」

婦人說：「主啊，沒錯，可是狗也吃主人飯桌上掉下來的碎渣呀！」

她說：“主啊，是的，不過小狗也吃主人桌子上掉下來的碎渣。”

婦人說：『主啊，不錯；但是連小狗也喫牠們主人桌子上掉下來的碎渣兒啊！』

婦人說：「是的，主啊！不過連小狗也吃得到主人桌子上掉下來的碎渣！」

婦曰、主、然、狗亦食其主案下遺屑耳、

婦曰、主、然、但几下遺屑、狗亦得食之、

婦曰、主、然也、但家主案下遺屑、狗亦得食之、

婦對曰：『主、誠然；惟几下穉犬、猶得沾主人餅屑。』

“ Yes it is, Lord,” she said.“ Even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master’s table.”

“ Yes it is, Lord,” she said.“ Even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their owner’s table.”

She said,“ Yes, Lord, yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table.”

“ Yes, Lord,” she said,“ yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table.”

And she said,“ Yes, Lord; but please help, for even the dogs feed on the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table.”

And she said,“ Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.”

But she said, Yea, Lord: for even the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.

“ Yes, Lord,” she said,“ yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table!”

And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.

“ Yes, Lord,” she replied,“ but even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table.”

But she said,“ Yes, Lord, but even the dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.”

“ I am nothing— how could I ever find the answers? I will cover my mouth with my hand.I have said too much already. I have nothing more to say.”

I will go home to my father and say,“ Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you,and I am no longer worthy of being called your son. Please take me on as a hired servant.”’

Last of all, as though I had been born at the wrong time, I also saw him.For I am the least of all the apostles. In fact, I’m not even worthy to be called an apostle after the way I persecuted God’s church.

even though I used to blaspheme the name of Christ. In my insolence, I persecuted his people. But God had mercy on me because I did it in ignorance and unbelief.Oh, how generous and gracious our Lord was! He filled me with the faith and love that come from Christ Jesus.This is a trustworthy saying, and everyone should accept it:“ Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners”— and I am the worst of them all.

Though I am the least deserving of all God’s people, he graciously gave me the privilege of telling the Gentiles about the endless treasures available to them in Christ.

“ But the tax collector stood at a distance and dared not even lift his eyes to heaven as he prayed. Instead, he beat his chest in sorrow, saying,‘ O God, be merciful to me, for I am a sinner.’

But the officer said,“ Lord, I am not worthy to have you come into my home. Just say the word from where you are, and my servant will be healed.

You will remember your sins and cover your mouth in silent shame when I forgive you of all that you have done. I, the Sovereign Lord, have spoken!”

Obviously, the law applies to those to whom it was given, for its purpose is to keep people from having excuses, and to show that the entire world is guilty before God.

“ O my God, lean down and listen to me. Open your eyes and see our despair. See how your city— the city that bears your name— lies in ruins. We make this plea, not because we deserve help, but because of your mercy.

In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike.

As Lazarus lay there longing for scraps from the rich man’s table, the dogs would come and lick his open sores.

Against you, and you alone, have I sinned; I have done what is evil in your sight. You will be proved right in what you say, and your judgment against me is just.For I was born a sinner— yes, from the moment my mother conceived me.

“ I know that you can do anything, and no one can stop you.You asked,‘ Who is this that questions my wisdom with such ignorance?’ It is I— and I was talking about things I knew nothing about, things far too wonderful for me.You said,‘ Listen and I will speak! I have some questions for you, and you must answer them.’I had only heard about you before, but now I have seen you with my own eyes.I take back everything I said, and I sit in dust and ashes to show my repentance.”

But the other criminal protested,“ Don’t you fear God even when you have been sentenced to die?We deserve to die for our crimes, but this man hasn’t done anything wrong.”Then he said,“ Jesus, remember me when you come into your Kingdom.”

So Jesus went with them. But just before they arrived at the house, the officer sent some friends to say,“ Lord, don’t trouble yourself by coming to my home, for I am not worthy of such an honor.I am not even worthy to come and meet you. Just say the word from where you are, and my servant will be healed.

Of course not! Even if everyone else is a liar, God is true. As the Scriptures say about him,“ You will be proved right in what you say, and you will win your case in court.”

I am not worthy of all the unfailing love and faithfulness you have shown to me, your servant. When I left home and crossed the Jordan River, I owned nothing except a walking stick. Now my household fills two large camps!

Jew and Gentile are the same in this respect. They have the same Lord, who gives generously to all who call on him.

After all, is God the God of the Jews only? Isn’t he also the God of the Gentiles? Of course he is.

May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
