耶穌對曰：『以邪惡不淑之世代、而求靈徵、除先知若納之靈徵、更無他徵可授。

曰姦惡之世而求異兆、先知約拿之兆外、無以示之、

He answered,“ A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a sign! But none will be given it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.

But Jesus replied,“ Only an evil, adulterous generation would demand a miraculous sign; but the only sign I will give them is the sign of the prophet Jonah.

以邪惡不淑之世而求靈徵、除若納之靈徵外、更無靈徵可賜。』遂離之去。

眾既集、耶穌開講曰：『惡哉斯代之人也、乃欲求靈徵除若納之靈徵、更無他徵可以示之。蓋適如若納身作靈徵、以示尼尼衛人人子之於斯代亦然。當審判之日南國之后、必將起而定斯代之罪矣。蓋彼不惜奔波跋涉、不遠千里而來、以聆所羅門之嘉言慧語；顧在茲有大於所羅門者焉。當審判之日、尼尼衛人、必將起而定斯代之罪。蓋若輩一聞若納之訓、猶知幡然悔改；顧在茲有大於若納者焉。

嗚呼、爾亦不淑也已！豈不知與世為友、即與天主為仇乎？閹然媚世者、不能取悅於天主矣。

處此淫邪之世、而以吾及吾道為恥者、人子佩聖父榮光、偕聖天神降臨之日、亦必以其人為可恥也。』
